| 1 | Prevention of hepatotoxicity due to anti tuberculosis treatment: A novel integrative approach显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the ability of Curcuma longa (CL) and Tinospora cordifolia (TC) formulation to prevent anti-tuberculosis (TB) treatment (ATT) induced hepatotoxicity. METHODS: Patients with active TB diagnosis were randomized to a drug control group and a trial group on drugs plus an herbal formulation. Isoniazid, rifampicin, pyrazinamide and ethambutol for first 2 mo followed by continuation phase therapy excluding Pyrazinamide for 4 mo comprised the anti-tuberculous treatment. Curcumin enriched (25%) CL and a hydro-ethanolic extract enriched (50%) TC 1 g each divided in two doses comprised the herbal adjuvant. Hemogram, bilirubin and liver enzymes were tested initially and monthly till the end of study to evaluate the result. RESULTS: Incidence and severity of hepatotoxicity was significantly lower in trial group (incidence: 27/192 vs 2/316, P < 0.0001). Mean aspartate transaminase (AST) (195.93 ± 108.74 vs 85 ± 4.24, P < 0.0001), alanine transaminase (ALT) (75.74 ± 26.54 vs 41 ± 1.41, P < 0.0001) and serum bilirubin (5.4 ± 3.38 vs 1.5 ± 0.42, P < 0.0001). A lesser sputum positivity ratio at the end of 4 wk (10/67 vs 4/137, P = 0.0068) and decreased incidence of poorly resolved parenchymal lesion at the end of the treatment (9/152 vs 2/278, P= 0.0037) was observed. Improved patient compliance was indicated by nil drop-out in trial vs 10/192 in control group (P < 0.0001). | 2 | Enhanced thermoelectric performance in p-type ZrCoSb based half-Heusler alloys employing nanostructuring and compositional modulation显示文摘ZrCoSb based half-Heusler(HH)alloys have been widely studied as a p-type thermoelectric(TE)material for power generation applications in the mid-temperature regime.However,their intrinsically high thermal conductivity has been found to be detrimental for the improvement in their thermoelectric figure-of-merit(ZT),which presently is far below unity.In the current work,a state-of-the-art ZT~1.1 at 873 K was realized in an optimized composition of nanostructured Zr1-xHfxCoSb_(0.9)Sn_(0.1) HH alloys by employing compositional modulation i.e.grain-by-grain compositional variations,which leads to a substantial increase in its power factor coupled with a concurrent decrease in its thermal conductivity.Significant reduction in the phonon mean-free-path is observed on Hf substitution,which is comparable to the average crystallite size(~25 nm),thus leading to a very low thermal conductivity of~2.2Wm^(-1)K^(-1) at 873 K,which is amongst the lowest reported in HH alloys.The TE device characteristics,estimated using cumulative temperature dependence model for quantitative evaluation of TE performance,yielded an output power density of~10 Wcm2 with a leg efficiency of~10%in the optimized composition of nanostructured Zr_(1-x)Hf_(x)CoSb_(0.9)Sn_(0.1) HH alloys,which is comparable to the reported efficiencies of other state-of-the-art TE materials. | Nagendra S.Chauhan Sivaiah Bathula Avinash Vishwakarma Ruchi Bhardwaj Kishor Kumar Johari Bhasker Gahtori Ajay Dhar | 2019 | Journal of Materiomics2019，5，1： | 3 |

| 4 | Assessment of SNP and InDel Variations Among Rice Lines of Tulaipanji x Ranjit显示文摘Genotyping by sequencing(GBS) is the recent approach of next-generation sequencing technique for discovering and genotyping single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) in crop species. Genotypic variation studies(SNPs and insertion-deletions/In Dels) were performed using four rice lines based on GBS data by aligning to the reference genome Nipponbare. Local aromatic rice landrace Tulaipanji was crossed with Ranjit, and two distinct lines were identified from the progenies: one line with awns and aroma traits and the other without awns and aroma. Total number of SNPs and In Dels identified were 52 810 and 4 327 at read depth 10, respectively. Out of the total polymorphic SNPs/In Dels, 16 490 were intergeneric, 7 812 were inside gene, and 4 435 were intronic. Phylogenetically, Tulaipanji was closer to the reference genome nipponbare. Based on recurrent parent genome analysis, out of 10 013 alleles, 92.52% was introgressed into progeny-awn from Tulaipanji and 7.48% from Ranjit, whereas progeny-awnless carried 89.19% alleles from Ranjit and only 10.81% alleles from Tulaipanji. In addition, progeny-awn was the highest heterozygous(83.88%) and progeny-awnless was the least(2.24%) at this fifth generation of recombinant inbred lines. These SNP variations may be linked to the phenotypic traits and can be utilized in crop improvement through linkage mapping.
