Hybrid MPPT approach using Cuckoo Search and Grey Wolf Optimizer for PV systems under variant operating conditions显示文摘Photovoltaic(PV)systems are adversely affected by partial shading and non-uniform conditions.Meanwhile, the addition of a bypass shunt diode to each PV module prevents hotspots. It also produces numerous peaks in the PV array’s power-voltage characteristics, thereby trapping conventional maximum power point tracking(MPPT)methods in local peaks.Swarm optimization approaches can be used to address this issue. However, these strategies have an unreasonably long convergence time. The Grey Wolf Optimizer(GWO)is a fast and more dependable optimization algorithm. This renders it a good option for MPPT of PV systems operating in varying partial shading. The conventional GWO method involves a long conversion time, large steady-state oscillations, and a high failure rate. This work attempts to address these issues by combining Cuckoo Search(CS)with the GWO algorithm to improve the MPPT performance. The results of this approach are compared with those of conventional MPPT according to GWO and MPPT methods based on perturb and observe(P&O).A comparative analysis reveals that under non-uniform operating conditions, the hybrid GWO CS(GWOCS)approach presented in this article outperforms the GWO and P&O approaches.Jinan Abdulhasan Salim Baraa M.Albaker Muwafaq Shyaa Alwan M.Hasanuzzaman 2022Global Energy Interconnection2022,5,6:3
Hamstring autograft utilization in reconstructing anterior cruciate ligament:Review of harvesting techniques, graft preparation, and different fixation methods显示文摘Rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament(ACL)is a common orthopedic injury.Various graft options are available for the reconstruction of ruptured ACL.Using the hamstring muscle as an autograft was first described in 1934,and it remains a commonly harvested graft for ACL reconstruction.Hamstring autografts can be harvested using the traditional anteromedial approach or the newer posteromedial technique. An isolated semitendinosus tendon can be used or combined with the gracilis tendon. There are numerous methods for graft fixation, such as intra-tunnel or extra-tunnel fixation. This comprehensive review discusses the different hamstring muscle harvesting techniques and graft preparation options and fixation methods. It provides a comprehensive overview for choosing the optimal surgical technique when treating patients.Waleed Albishi Baraa Baltow Nora Albusayes Ameer A Sayed Hamza M Alrabai 2022World Journal of Orthopedics2022,13,10:2

Hepatitis D virus and liver transplantation: Indications and outcomes显示文摘Hepatitis D virus(HDV)is a dependent virus that relies on hepatitis B virus for its replication and transmission.Chronic hepatitis D is a severe form of viral hepatitis that can result in end stage liver disease.Currently, pegylated interferon alpha is the only approved therapy for chronic HDV infection and is associated with significant side effects.Liver transplantation(LT)is the only treatment option for patients with end-stage liver disease, hepatocellular carcinoma,or fulminant hepatitis due to coinfection with HDV.As LT for HDV and hepatitis B virus coinfection is uncommon in the United States, most data on the long-term impact of LT on HDV are from international centers. In this review,we discuss the indications and results of LT with treatment options in HDV patients.Haris Muhammad Aniqa Tehreem Muhammad Baraa Hammami Peng-Sheng Ting Ramzan Idilman Ahmet Gurakar 2021World Journal of Hepatology2021,13,3:0
Transcutaneous dorsal penile nerve stimulation for the treatment of premature ejaculation:A novel technique显示文摘Dear editor,Premature ejaculation(PE)is a common male sexual dysfunction. It occurs in 4%e39%of men across studies in community samples[1].It is impossible to establish accurately the real prevalence of PE because it lacks a widely accepted definition.Furthermore,PE is frequently a self-reported,self-rated complaint, making it difficult to appreciate its real epidemiology. In addition, the fact that in some couples PE is diagnosed based on distress rather than as an objective symptom complicates the matter even further[2].Oral dapoxetine has been recommended as first-choice therapy for PE.When using this drug, side effects were uncommon,dose-dependent,including nausea, diarrhea, headache, and dizziness[1].Although since the early 1930s,many drugs have been used to treat PE such as topical local anesthetics and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.Mohamad Moussa Mohamad Abou Chakra Baraa Dabboucy Youssef Fares Athanasios Dellis Athanasios Papatsoris 2022Asian Journal of Urology2022,9,3:0
AB028.Mesenchymal stem cells repair retinal vascular damage in retinopathy of prematurity mouse model显示文摘Background:Retinopathy of prematurity is a leading cause of visual impairment and blindness in infants.Exposure of premature babies to the hyperoxic extrauterine environment leads to vaso-obliteration(VO),followed by ischemia, and subsequently pathological intravitreal neovascularization(NV)in the immature retina.Current treatments target only aberrant intravitreal vessel growth without repopulating the avascular regions of the retina. Thus, there is a dire need of new therapies that arrest pathological NV and promote normal retinal revascularization.Mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)have shown the ability to migrate to the damaged tissue in different animal models and enhance vascularization. We,therefore, investigated whether MSCs can promote vascular repair in a mouse model of ROP.Methods:Oxygen-induced retinopathy(OIR)model was used herein.Postnatal day 7(P7)mice were subjected to 75%O2 until P12 to induce VO followed by 5 days of room air leading to NV.Compact bone-derived MSCs were isolated from adult C57BL/6 mice and cultured either in hypoxia(5%O2)or normoxia(21%O2).Conditioned media(CM)was collected 24 hours later and injected intravitreally in P12 OIR retinas to assess vascular repair. To determine possible factors involved in MSC-induced revascularization, gene expression analysis was performed on P17 OIR retinas. In vitro,we investigated the effect of MSC-CM on microglial polarization using quantitative PCR and flow cytometry. Results:Hypoxic MSC-CM significantly(P<0.01)decreased both VO and NV areas in comparison to the normoxic counterpart.Levels of IGF-1 and VEGF were significantly high in MSC-injected OIR retinas. Moreover, gene expression levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines(IL-1β,TNFα)dropped whereas levels of anti-inflammatory cytokines(IL-10,IL-4)increased.Treatment of pro-inflammatory M1 microglia with MSC-CM decreased the gene expression of IL-1βand TNFα,and iNOS(M1 marker)at the transcript and protein levels. Conclusions:In this study,we demonstrated that MSCs promote healthy vessel growth in OIR retinas via a paracrine fashion by regulating expression of angiogenic factors and modulating inflammation.Baraa Noueihed Jose Carlos Rivera Sylvain Chemtob 2018Annals of Eye Science2018,,1:0
AB035. Lactate receptor GPR81 modulates epigenetic modification in the subretina显示文摘Background:Retinal pigment epithelium(RPE)is vital for the homeostasis of the subretina including photoreceptors and choroid.Interestingly, our previous results suggested that the recently discovered lactate receptor GPR81 is abundantly expressed in RPE.To date, only one previous study has shown that activating GPR81 could enhance DNA repair by activating HDAC1.Consequently,we investigated whether GPR81 exhibits epigenetic modification in the subretina by using GPR81−/−mice.Methods:GPR81−/−mice and wide type littermates were generated on a background of C57BL/6J mice. The thicknesses of their choroid were evaluated by immunohistochemistry.Meanwhile,Q-PCR,western blot and choroid sprout assay were performed. In vitro, primary retinal pigment epithelium(pRPE)cells were isolated from mice, and cultured for treatments. Results:The thickness of choroid was reduced in GPR81−/−mice compared to GPR81+/+mice,suggesting that GPR81 is important for the integrity of choroid. In the choroid sprout assay, lactate treated RPE/choroid complex showed a significant increase in angiogenesis compared to controls while lactate treated KO RPE/choroid complex showed no difference compared to their controls. For Q-PCR,most of the genes screened elevated their expression in GPR81−/−mice compared to WT mice, suggesting epigenetic modification may exist, which were confirmed by histone acetylation and HDACs activity assay. Conclusions:Taking together, the lactate receptor GPR81 in RPE is very important for maintaining homeostasis of the subretina. This novel discovery sheds new light on the relationship between metabolism and epigenetic modification.Xiaojuan Yang Raphael Rouget Tang Zhu Christiane Quiniou Shasha Lv Suna Jung Francois Duhamel Houda Tahiri Samy Omri Baraa Noueihed Xin Hou JoséCarlos Rivera Mathieu Nadeau-Vallée Pierre Lachapelle Sylvain Chemtob 2018Annals of Eye Science2018,,1:0
Improved Transient Search Optimization with Machine Learning Based Behavior Recognition on Body Sensor Data显示文摘Recently, human healthcare from body sensor data has gained considerable interest from a wide variety of human-computer communication and pattern analysis research owing to their real-time applications namely smart healthcare systems.Even though there are various forms of utilizing distributed sensors to monitor the behavior of people and vital signs, physical human action recognition(HAR)through body sensors gives useful information about the lifestyle and functionality of an individual. This article concentrates on the design of an Improved Transient Search Optimization with Machine Learning based BehaviorRecognition(ITSOMLBR)technique using body sensor data. The presented ITSOML-BR technique collects data from different body sensors namely electrocardiography(ECG),accelerometer, and magnetometer. In addition, the ITSOML-BR technique extract features like variance, mean, skewness, and standard deviation. Moreover, the presented ITSOML-BR technique executes a micro neural network(MNN)which can be employed for long term healthcare monitoring and classification.Furthermore, the parameters related to the MNN model are optimally selected via the ITSO algorithm. The experimental result analysis of the ITSOML-BR technique is tested on the MHEALTH dataset. The comprehensive comparison study reported a higher result for the ITSOMLBR approach over other existing approaches with maximum accuracy of 99.60%.Baraa Wasfi Salim Bzar Khidir Hussan Zainab Salih Ageed Subhi R.M.Zeebaree 2023Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,5:0
