1Spatial patterns of urban land use growth in Beijing显示文摘By using digitized land use maps of Beijing in 1982, 1992 and 1997 and employing GIS spatial analysis techniques, this paper conducts an empirical study on the spatial differentiation and spatial patterns of urban land use growth in Beijing in the period of 1982-1997. It is observed that urban land use growth in Beijing went beyond the control of urban planning, in terms of the extraordinary high growth rate and undesired spatial pattern. The rate of urban expansion after 1982, which was predominated by growth of industrial land, was extraordinary high compared to its historical period. While its growth centers have been actively shifting toward the northern part, rather than toward the southern and eastern parts as designated by the latest General Plan (1991-2010) of Beijing, its spatial pattern of urban land use growth in general was in distinct concentric sprawl, which seriously violated the General Plan of Beijing.LIU Shenghe, Sylvia Prielei, LI Xiubin(1. 2Comparison of clinical outcomes between femtosecond laser-assisted versus conventional phacoemulsification显示文摘Background:To compare femtosecond laser-assisted versus conventional phacoemulsification in terms of visual and refractive outcomes,cumulative dissipated energy,anterior chamber inflammation and endothelial cell loss.Methods:In this retrospective cohort study,records of eyes that underwent femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery(FLACS)or conventional phacoemulsification(CP)were reviewed.The Victus femtosecond laser(Bausch and Lomb,Germany)was used to carry out corneal incisions,anterior capsulotomy,and lens fragmentation in FLACS procedures.Manifest refraction spherical equivalence(MRSE),uncorrected distance visual acuity(UDVA),corrected distance visual acuity(CDVA),cumulative dissipated energy(CDE),postoperative cells and flare and endothelial cell count data were collected.Subgroup analysis of the visual acuity tests was performed based on the type of intraocular lens implanted(monofocal,monofocal toric,multifocal,multifocal toric,accommodating).Results:A total of 735 eyes were included in the study(296 eyes for the FLACS group and 439 eyes for the CP group).At one year follow-up,120 eyes comprised the FLACS group and 265 eyes for the CP group.MRSE in the FLACS group was−0.16±0.58 D and−0.20±0.52 D in the CP group(P=0.50).UDVA in the FLACS group was 20/25(mean logMAR 0.12±0.13)and 20/25(mean logMAR 0.11±0.13)in the CP group(P=0.48).CDVA was 20/20(mean logMAR 0.03±0.07)in the FLACS group and 20/20(mean logMAR 0.02±0.06)in the CP group(P=0.15).No statistically significant trend was seen for FLACS versus CP by intraocular type for visual acuity.CDE for the different cataract grades ranged from 6.97±5.74 to 29.02±16.07 in the FLACS group and 7.59±6.42 to 35.69±18.30 in the CP group.The FLACS group was significantly lower for post-operative central corneal edema(P=0.05),cells and flare(P=0.01),and endothelial cell loss(P=0.04).Conclusions:Femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery and conventional phacoemulsification had similar refractive and visual outcomes.Phacoemulsification energy,anterior chamber inflammation and corneal endothelial cell loss were less in the femtosecond laser group.Robert Edward Ty Ang Michelle Marie Salcedo Quinto Emerson Marquez Cruz Mark Christian Reyes Rivera Gladness Henna Austria Martinez 2018Eye and Vision2018,5,1:10
3DYNAMIC VARIATIONS OF WATER QUALITY IN TAIHU LAKE AND MULTIVARIATE ANALYSIS OF ITS INFLUENTIAL FACTORS显示文摘Dynamic variation of water quality in Meiliang Bay and part of West Taihu Lake has been analysed based on data from 1991 to 1992. Principal Component Analysis is used to reveal the mutual relationships of various factors. It is shown that there existis an obvious spatial and temporal variation in the main factors of water quality. Annual values of TP, CON, TN, Chl-a and conductivity decrease evidently from inner Meiliang Bay to the outer from north to south. TP and TN fluctuate seasonally with much higher value in winter. This is particularly true for the mouth of Liangxi River. In addition, the Chl-1 has a synchronous variation with water temperature, although being lagged a little, and closely relates to TP and TN. 4Contributions to a molecular phylogeny and systematics of Anemone and related genera (Ranunculaceae-Anemoninae)显示文摘Plastid atp B/ rbc L intergenic spacer sequences were obtained from 21 selected taxa and one hybrid of Anemoninae ( Anemone, Pulsatilla, Hepatica ) and compared with Ficaria (Ranunculinae) as an outgroup. From the resulting matrix (1226 bp) a single most parsimonious tree was obtained (Fig. 1). The branching of this tree is confirmed by many informative indels and appears largely congruent with past plastid restriction analyses. Several new taxa are added. The monophyly of the Anemoninae and their early split into two major clades is supported: clade I with the chromosome base number x=8, clade II with the reduced x=7. Clade I is made up of the basal Pulsatilla and the Rivularis + Vitifolia groups. The Multifida group links to the crown groups Coronaria, Blanda and Nemorosa. Clade II consists of the basal Dichotoma group, followed by Hepatica, and finally by the N. Hemisphere Narcissiflora and the S. Hemisphere Antucensis groups as sisters. The problems of the Anemoninae ancestry, phylogenetic differentiation, and recent attempts for systematic classification are critically discussed. 5Modeling the impacts of climate change on China's agriculture显示文摘The impacts of climate change on China’s agriculture are measured based on Ricardian model. By using county-level cross-sectional data on agricultural net revenue, climate, and other economic and geographical data for 1275 agriculture-dominated counties in the period of 1985-1991, we find that both higher temperature and more precipitation will have overall positive impact on China’s agriculture. However, the impacts vary seasonally and regionally. Higher temperature in all seasons except spring increases agricultural net revenue while more precipitation is beneficial in winter but is harmful in summer. Applying the model to five climate scenarios in the 2020s and 2050s shows that the North, the Northeast, the Northwest, and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau would always benefit from climate change while the South and the Southwest may be negatively affected. For the East and the Central China, most scenarios show that they may benefit from climate change. 17Consumptive water use in cropland and its partitioning:A high-resolution assessment显示文摘Spatially explicit assessments of consumptive water use (CWU) are still at an early stage, and parti-tioning of CWU has rarely been studied on large scales. In this article, CWU is assessed for China's cropland with a spatial resolution of 30 arc-minutes. The partitioning of CWU is discussed through the simulation of transpiration ratios. The total CWU for Chinese cropland was 839 km3/a during 1998―2002. Spatial distribution of CWU is closely related to cropland area and crop production with the highest CWU in the North China Plain. Transpiration accounts for two-thirds of CWU. The transpiration ratio is affected by precipitation and irrigation. Transpiration ratios are higher in irrigated systems than in rainfed systems when precipitation is low. Competition of water use will impose pressure on China's irrigation systems in the near future, and it will have a far-reaching effect on the partitioning of consumptive water use.
