| 1 | Current oncologic applications of radiofrequency ablation therapies显示文摘Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) uses high frequency alternating current to heat a volume of tissue around a needle electrode to induce focal coagulative necrosis with minimal injury to surrounding tissues. RFA can be performed via an open, laparoscopic, or image guided percutaneous approach and be performed under general or local anesthesia. Advances in delivery mechanisms, electrode designs, and higher power generators have increased the maximum volume that can be ablated, while maximizing oncological outcomes. In general, RFA is used to control local tumor growth, prevent recurrence, palliate symptoms, and improve survival in a subset of patients that are not candidates for surgical resection. It's equivalence to surgical resection has yet to be proven in large randomized control trials. Currently, the use of RFA has been well described as a primary or adjuvant treatment modality of limited but unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma, liver metastasis, especially colorectal cancer metastases, primary lung tumors, renal cell carcinoma, boney metastasis and osteoid osteomas. The role of RFA in the primary treatment of early stage breast cancer is still evolving. | 3 | Dual and multi-drug delivery nanoparticles towards neuronal survival and synaptic repair显示文摘Among the macromolecular drug targets in neurodegenerative disorders, the neurotrophin brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF) and its high-affinity tropomyosin-related kinase receptor(Trk B) present strong interest for nanomedicine development aiming at neuronal and synaptic repair. Currently, BDNF is regarded as the neurotrophic factor of highest therapeutic significance. However, BDNF has delivery problems as a protein drug. The enhanced activation of the transcription factor CREB(c AMP response element-binding protein) has been evidenced to increase the BDNF gene expression and hence the production of endogenous BDNF. We assume that BDNF delivery by nanocarriers and mitochondrial protection may provide high potential for therapeutic amelioration of the neuroregenerative strategies. Beneficial therapeutic outcomes may be expected for synergistic dual or multi-drug action aiming at(i) neurotrophic protein regulation in the central and peripheral nervous systems, and(ii) diminishment of the production of reactive oxygen species(ROS) and the oxidative damage in mitochondria. Our research strategy is based on a nanoarchitectonics approach for the design of nanomedicine assemblies by hierarchical self-assembly. | 4 | Emotional intelligence in professional nursing practice:A concept review using Rodgers's evolutionary analysis approach显示文摘Background:Knowledge around emotional intelligence originated in the 1990s from research regarding thoughts,emotions and abilities.The concept of emotional intelligence has evolved over the last 25 years;however,the understanding and use is still unclear.Despite this,emotional intelligence has been a widely-considered concept within professions such as business,management,education,and within the last 10 years has gained traction within nursing practice.Aims and objectives:The aim of this concept review is to clarify the understanding of the concept emotional intelligence,what attributes signify emotional intelligence,what are its antecedents,consequences,related terms and implications to advance nursing practice.Method:A computerized search was guided by Rodger's evolutional concept analysis.Data courses included:CINAHL,PyschINFO,Scopus,EMBASE and ProQuest,focusing on articles published in Canada and the United Stated during 1990e2017.Results:A total of 23 articles from various bodies of disciplines were included in this integrative concept review.The analysis reveals that there are many inconsistencies regarding the description of emotional intelligence,however,four common attributes were discovered:self-awareness,self-management,social awareness and social/relationship management.These attributes facilitate the emotional well-being among advance practice nurses and enhances the ability to practice in a way that will benefit patients,families,colleagues and advance practice nurses as working professionals and as individuals.Conclusion:The integration of emotional intelligence is supported within several disciplines as there is consensus on the impact that emotional intelligence has on job satisfaction,stress level,burnout and helps to facilitate a positive environment.Explicit to advance practice nursing,emotional intelligence is a concept that may be central to nursing practice as it has the potential to impact the quality of patient care and outcomes,decision-making,critical thinking and overall the well-being of practicing nurses. | Angelina E.Raghubir | 2018 | International Journal of Nursing Sciences2018，5，2： | 3 |

| 8 | Study on Vaginitis Among Intrauterine Contraceptive Device Users in Ibadan,South-western Nigeria显示文摘Objective To investigate IUD-related vaginitis in IUD users at the University College Hospital Ibadan,South-western Nigeria.Methods A prospective cohort study in IUD users present with abnormal vaginal discharge at the family planning clinic of the University College Hospital,Ibadan was conducted between 10th of October,2008 and 31st of May 2009.High Vaginal Swabs were taken from the clients for microbiology,culture and drug sensitivity test.Diagnosis of bacterial vaginosis was made based on gram stained vaginal smear using the standard Nugents criteria.Other aetiological agents were identified either on wet preparation or culture using standard techniques.Treatment given was by the family planning nurse,as was the protocol at the family planning clinic.Results Twenty-four IUD users present at the family planning clinic with vaginal discharge were studied.Their ages ranged 28-51 years(38.14 ± 5.9 years).Mean parity was 4.4 ± 1.4.All the women were married and all used CuT 380A.The mean duration of IUCD use was 2.5 years only.Majority(46%) had used it for more than 3 years and most(75%) of the visits were unscheduled.All the clients complained of abnormal vaginal discharge which was copious,watery and foul smelling,or clumpy.Nine users(37.5%) complained of pruritus vulvae,3 users(12.5%) lower abdominal pain,1 user(4.2%) dyspareunia and 1(4.2%) dysuria.The diagnosis of bacterial vaginosis was made in 16(66.7%) and vaginal candidiasis in 8(33.3%).Age less than 40 years,Christianity and IUD use more than 3 years were associated with a higher risk of bacterial vaginosis(OR=1.29,1.67 and 6.6,respectively),while women above 40 years,Muslims and women with lower educational status had a higher risk of candida-related vaginitis(OR=1.67 and 4.2,respectively).Eight clients(33.3%) were treated for candidiasis with antifungals(3 empirically,and 5 after obtaining results of vaginal swab),9(37.5%) were given oral metronidazole,3 patients were referred to the gynaecological emergency unit on account of abdominal pain and 4 did not return for follow up.Conclusion IUD associated vaginitis is a disturbing condition causing unscheduled visits among IUD users.Bacterial vaginosis and Candidia albicans are major aetiologies in south western Nigeria Ibadan.Persistent discharge is a documented reason for discontinuation of IUD use.Periodic empirical treatment for candidiasis and bacterial vaginosis with antifungals and oral metronidazole is advocated.This may reduce the discomfort caused by IUD-related vaginitis,the risk of PID and other risks exposed to the IUD users and ensure continued use of the IUD. | Michael Abiola Okunlola Okonkwo N.Stella-Maris Angelina A Tokzaka Oladosu.A Ojengbede | 2009 | Journal of Reproduction and Contraception2009，20，4： | 1 |
