1Supplementation with sodium butyrate improves growth and antioxidant function in dairy calves before weaning显示文摘Background: There is increasing research interest in using short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs) including butyrate as potential alternatives to antibiotic growth promoters in animal production. This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of supplementation of sodium butyrate(SB) in liquid feeds(milk, milk replacer, and the mixture of both)on the growth performance, rumen fermentation, and serum antioxidant capacity and immunoglobins in dairy calves before weaning. Forty healthy female Holstein calves(4-day-old, 40 ± 5 kg of body weight) were housed in individual hutches and randomly allocated to 1 of 4 treatment groups(n = 10 per group) using the RAND function in Excel. The control group was fed no SB(SB0), while the other three groups were supplemented with 15(SB15),30(SB30), or 45(SB45) g/d of SB mixed into liquid feeds offered. The calves were initially fed milk only(days 2 to 20), then a mixture of milk and milk replacer(days 21 to 23), and finally milk replacer only(days 24 to 60).Results: The SB supplementation enhanced growth and improved feed conversion into body weight gain compared with the SB0 group, and the average daily gain increased quadratically with increasing SB supplementation. No significant effect on rumen pH;concentrations of NH_3-N, individual and total VFAs;or acetate:propionate(A:P) ratio was found during the whole experimental period. Serum glutathione peroxidase activity increased linearly with the increased SB supplementation, while the serum concentration of maleic dialdehyde linearly decreased. Serum concentrations of immunoglobulin A, immunoglobulin G, or immunoglobulin M were not affected by the SB supplementation during the whole experimental period.Conclusions: Under the conditions of this study, SB supplementation improved growth performance and antioxidant function in pre-weaned dairy calves. 2Investment Environment Assessment and Strategic Policy for Subjects of Federation in Russia显示文摘Russia is the largest neighboring country of China. Between the two countries, the resources and industry are complemented, the political mutual trust is at a high level, and trade cooperation has a broad prospect. Choosing the best regions and the best industries to strengthen investment in Russia has a major strategic significance in promoting ‘the Belt and Road Initiative’ and China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor Construction. However, the related researches are extremely limited. The investment environment is unclear, and the investment risk is unknown, which seriously restrict the investment in Russia and the trade cooperation with Russia. Our research team carried out scientific expedition, government visits and scientific research cooperation in Russia for several years, and obtained a great number of first-hand valuable data. According to the analysis on the data and Russian regional policies, this study constructed an investment environment evaluation model(ESI-PRA model), scientific assessed the investment environment for 83 subjects of federation in Russia, in terms of economic, social, infrastructure, policy, resource and accessibility, classified 4 types of investment regions, chose 3 investment priority regions, revealed the investment priority industries, demonstrated the main investment risks, and proposed the strategic policies. The research results provide direct scientific and technological support for strategic decisions, such as investment in Russia, bilateral economic and trade cooperation, and overseas layout of Chinese-funded enterprises. 4Characterizing bubble interaction effects in synchronous-double-pulse laser ablation for enhanced nanoparticle synthesis显示文摘To further advance nanomaterial applications and reduce waste production during synthesis,greener and sustainable production methods are necessary.Pulsed laser ablation in liquid(PLAL)is a green technique that enables the synthesis of nanoparticles.This study uses synchronous-double-pulse PLAL to understand bubble interaction effects on the nanoparticle size.By adjusting the lateral separation of the pulses relative to the maximum bubble size,an inter-pulse separation is identified where the nanoparticle size is fourfold.The cavitation bubble pair interaction is recorded using a unique coaxial diffuse shadowgraphy system.This system allows us to record the bubble pair interaction from the top and side,enabling the identification of the bubble’s morphology,lifetime,volumetric,and displacement velocity.It is found that the collision and collapse of the bubbles generated at a certain inter-pulse separation results in a larger nanoparticle size.These results mark a significant advancement by controlling the abundance of larger nanoparticles in PLAL,where previous efforts were primarily focused on reducing the average nanoparticle size.The experimentally observed trends are confirmed by numerical simulations with high spatial and temporal resolution.This study serves as a starting point to bridge the gap between upscaled multi-bubble practices and fundamental knowledge concerning the determinants that define the final nanoparticle size.FARBOD RIAHI ALEXANDER BUßMANN CARLOS DONATE-BUENDIA STEFAN ADAMI NICOLAUS AADAMS STEPHAN BARCIKOWSKI BILAL GOKCE 2023Photonics Research2023,11,12:0
