| 10 | Ectopic lignification in primary cellulose-deficient cell walls of maize cell suspension cultures显示文摘Maize(Zea mays L.) suspension-cultured cells with up to 70% less cellulose were obtained by stepwise habituation to dichlobenil(DCB), a cellulose biosynthesis inhibitor. Cellulose de ficiency was accompanied by marked changes in cell wall matrix polysaccharides and phenolics as revealed by Fourier transform infrared(FTIR) spectroscopy.Cell wall compositional analysis indicated that the cellulosede ficient cell walls showed an enhancement of highly branched and cross-linked arabinoxylans, as well as an increased content in ferulic acid, diferulates and p-coumaric acid, and the presence of a polymer that stained positive for phloroglucinol. In accordance with this, cellulose-de ficient cell walls showed a fivefold increase in Klason-type lignin.Thioacidolysis/GC-MS analysis of cellulose-de ficient cell walls indicated the presence of a lignin-like polymer with a Syringyl/Guaiacyl ratio of 1.45, which differed from the sensu stricto stress-related lignin that arose in response to shortterm DCB-treatments. Gene expression analysis of these cells indicated an overexpression of genes specific for the biosynthesis of monolignol units of lignin. A study of stress signaling pathways revealed an overexpression of some of the jasmonate signaling pathway genes, which might trigger ectopic lignification in response to cell wall integrity disruptions. In summary, the structural plasticity of primary cell walls is proven, since a lignification process is possible in response to cellulose impoverishment. | Hugo Mélida Asier Largo-Gosens Esther Novo-Uzal Rogelio Santiago Federico Pomar Pedro García Penélope García-Angulo José Luis Acebes Jesús álvarez Antonio Encina | 2015 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2015,57,4: | 0 |
| 11 | Self-reported participation restrictions in normal hearing individuals in thyroid ontogeny: Evidence of subclinical changes显示文摘Purpose: To verify evidence of subclinical alterations through self-reported participation restrictions in normal hearing individuals and congenital hypothyroidism patients. Methods: An analytical, quantitative, cross-sectional exploratory study with a 1:1 ratio, consisting of a convenience sample of 86 normal hearing individuals with(n = 42) and without(n = 44) congenital hypothyroidism diagnosis. All participants underwent tonal and speech audiometry, immitance and distortion product otoacoustic emissions. The researchers excluded people with hearing loss, genetic syndromes and metabolic diseases. The instrument used for evaluate of self-reported participation restrictions was the HHIE-adapted questionnaire, composed of 25 questions, 12 of which were social domain and 13 emotional domain. Student's ttest and chi-square test were used for statistical analysis at a significance level of 5%.Results: There was a significant(p < 0.001) self-reported participation restrictions in CH(61.9%), with a greater relevance for the social domain(p = 0.002). There was a greater frequency of mild/moderate(40.5%)and higher prevalence of association with clinical factors and adherence to treatment. Conclusion: The findings indicate that self-reported participation restrictions in normal hearing individuals with congenital hypothyroidism was more significant than in the non-exposed group, suggesting evidence of subclinical auditory abnormalities in this population. | Caio Le?nidas Oliveira de Andrade Gabriela Carvalho Machado Luan Paulo Franco Magalh?es Elen Pereira de Jesus Elaine Alves Matias Taíse Lima de Oliveira Cerqueira Hélida Braga de Oliveira Luciene da Cruz Fernandes Helton Estrela Ramos Crésio de Arag?o Dantas Alves | 2019 | Journal of Otology2019,14,1: | 0 |
