1Sediment resuspension in the Lake Taihu, China显示文摘In order to examine the intensity of surfi-cial sediment resuspension in Lake Taihu, a large shallow lake in eastern China, suspended sediment concentrations (SSCs) were measured on the basis of analysis of water samples collected using an in-novative multi-level water sampler. The results show that under calm weather conditions, the SSC is rela-tively homogenous through the entire water column. However, when strong winds occur, the SSC in the bottom layer is 1-2 orders of magnitude greater than in the surface layer; thus, in this case, the amount of total suspended matter in the water column cannot be estimated using the SSC values of the surface layer alone. 2Effects of applying lactic acid bacteria to the fermentation on a mixture of corn steep liquor and air-dried rice straw显示文摘This study was to determine the fermentation quality of a mixture of corn steep liquor(CSL)(178 g/kg wet basis) and air-dried rice straw(356 g/kg wet basis) after being treated with inoculants of different types of lactic acid bacteria(LAB). The treatments included the addition of no LAB additive(control),which was deionized water; homo-fermentative LAB alone(^(ho)LAB), which was Lactobacillus plantarum alone), and a mixture of homo-fermentative and hetero-fermentative LAB(^(he+ho)LAB), which were L. plantarum, Lactobacillus casei, and Lactobacillus buchneri. The results showed that the inoculation of the mixture of CSL and air-dried rice straw with ^(he+ho)LAB significantly increased the concentration of acetic acid and lactic acid compared with the control(P < 0.05). The addition of ^(he+ho)LAB effectively inhibited the growth of yeast in the silage. The concentration of total lactic acid bacteria in the ^(he+ho)LAB-treated silage was significant higher than those obtained in other groups(P < 0.05). The duration of the aerobic stability of the silages increased from 56 h to >372 h. The control group was the first to spoil, whereas the silage treated with ^(he+ho)LAB remained stable throughout the 372 h period of monitoring. 4Role of ethylene signaling in the production of rice volatiles induced by the rice brown planthopper Nilaparvata lugens显示文摘Ethylene signaling pathway plays an important role in induced plant direct defense against herbivores and pathogens; however, up to now, only few researches have focused on its role in induced plant indirect defense, i.e. the release of herbi- vore-induced volatiles, and the results are variable. Using a model system consisting of rice plants, the rice brown planthopper Nilaparvata lugens and its egg parasitoid Anagrus nilaparvatae, we examined the role of ethylene signaling in the production of rice volatiles induced by N. lugens by measuring both the timing of herbivore-induced ethylene levels and the relationships between ethylene, rice volatiles and attraction of the parasitoid. N. lugens infestation sig- nificantly enhanced the release of ethylene during 2―24 h after infestation. Plants treated with eth- ephon, a compound that breaks down to release ethylene at cytoplasmic pH, released volatiles profiles similar to those released by N. lugens-infested plants, and both of them showed an equal attraction of the parasitoid. Moreover, pretreatment with 1-MCP, an inhibitor of ethylene perception, reduced the release of most of rice volatiles whose amount was enhanced by N. lugens infestation and decreased the attrac- tiveness to the parasitoid. 5Cytological mechanisms of interspecific incrossability and hybrid sterility between Oryza sativa L. and O. alta Swallen显示文摘Oryza sativa and O. alta belong to AA and CCDD genomes in Oryza, respectively. Interspecific repro-ductive isolation limits the transfer of favorable genes from O. alta into O. sativa. The cytological mechanisms of interspecific incrossability and hybrid sterility between O. sativa and O. alta were studied systematically in this paper. We indentified two cytological causes of interspecific incrossabil-ity. First, we observed embryo sac incompatibility that caused fertilization barriers of variable severity such as non-fertilization, fertilization stagnation and egg cell single-fertilization. Second, we observed hybrid inviability, the major cause for incrossability, apparent from hybrid embryo developmental stagnation and embryo abortion. Hybrid sterility included both embryo sac sterility and pollen sterility. The hybrid embryo sac was completely sterile and exhibited mainly embryo sac degeneration. Hybrid pollen was also sterile and mainly typical abortive. Hybrid sterility was mainly caused by severely ab-normal meioses of megasporocytes and pollen mother cells; it is the most important abnormality, being chromosome sterility. 6Jasmonic acid carboxyl methyltransferase regulates development and herbivory-induced defense response in rice显示文摘Jasmonic acid(JA) and related metabolites play a key role in plant defense and growth. JA carboxyl methyltransferase(JMT) may be involved in plant defense and development by methylating JA to methyl jasmonate(Me JA) and thus influencing the concentrations of JA and related metabolites. However, no JMT gene has been well characterized in monocotyledon defense and development at the molecular level. After we cloned a rice JMT gene,Os JMT1, whose encoding protein was localized in the cytosol, we found that the recombinant Os JMT1 protein catalyzed JA to Me JA. Os JMT1 is up-regulated in response to infestation with the brown planthopper(BPH; Nilaparvata lugens). Plants in which Os JMT1 had been overexpressed(oeJMT plants) showed reduced height and yield. These oe-JMT plants also exhibited increased Me JA levels but reduced levels of herbivore-induced JA and jasmonoyl-isoleucine(JAIle). The oe-JMT plants were more attractive to BPH female adults but showed increased resistance to BPH nymphs,probably owing to the different responses of BPH female adults and nymphs to the changes in levels of H_2O_2 and Me JA in oe-JMT plants. 7Photocatalytic reduction of carbon dioxide to methanol by Cu_2O/SiC nanocrystallite under visible light irradiation显示文摘The Cu2O/SiC photocatalyst was obtained from SiC nanoparticles (NPs) modified by Cu2O. Their photocatalytic activities for reducing CO2 to CH3OH under visible light irradiation have been investigated. The results indicated that besides a small quantity of 6H-SiC, SiC NPs mainly consisted of 3C-SiC. The band gaps of SiC and Cu2O were estimated to be about 1.95 and 2.23 eV from UV-Vis spectra, respectively. 8Effect of different levels of corn steep liquor addition on fermentation characteristics and aerobic stability of fresh rice straw silage显示文摘The object of this study was to determine the proper mixing ratio of fresh rice straw to corn steep liquor(CSL) to obtain a high protein content silage feed. The following experimental silages were generated: the control(C1), composed of fresh rice straw without CSL additive, mixed with CSL in the ratios of 4:1(C4),3:1(C3) and 2:1(C2). Lactic acid bacteria(LAB) inoculant was applied at the rate of 50 mL/kg(fresh basis)of forage to achieve a final application rate of 1 x 10~6 cfu/g of fresh matter(FM). Duplicate silos for each treatment were opened after 0,3, 7,10,20,30,45 and 60 d for microbiological and chemical analysis. The results showed that the addition of CSL significantly increased crude protein(CP) contents, and decreased neutral detergent fiber(NDF) and acid detergent fiber(ADF) contents of treatments after 60 d of ensiling(P < 0.05). The lactic acid contents in C4 and C3 were significantly higher than that in C1(P <0.05). In summary, mixing fresh rice straw with CSL at addition levels of 4:1(C4) and 3:1(C3) can improve the fermentation quality and nutrient composition of fresh rice straw silage. 9β-Glucosidase treatment and infestation by the rice brown planthopper Nilaparvata lugens elicit similar signaling pathways in rice plants显示文摘β-Glucosidase has been reported to induce the production of herbivore-induced plant volatiles. How-ever, how it works remains unclear. Here, we investigated the levels of salicylic acid (SA), jasmonic acid (JA), ethylene, and H2O2, all of which are known signaling molecules that play important roles in in-duced plant defense in rice plants treated with β-glucosidase, and compared these to levels in plants infested by the rice brown planthopper Nilaparvata lugens (Stl). Results showed that wounding and treatment by β-glucosidase increased the levels of SA, ethylene, and H2O2, but not JA, in all plants compared to control plants. The signaling pathways activated by β-glucosidase treatment are similar to those activated by an infestation by N. lugens, although the magnitude and timing of the signals elicited by the two treatments are different. 10Automatic recognition of ingestive-related behaviors of dairy cows based on triaxial acceleration显示文摘Ingestive-related behaviors including feeding and ruminating are important indexes to measure the health and welfare of dairy cows.The purpose of this study is to develop a method based on triaxial acceleration to automatically recognize feeding and ruminating of dairy cows.During the experiment,five diary cows raised in a barn were used as experimental subjects.A triaxial acceleration sensor was used as the device to collect jawmovement data of dairy cows,and the behaviors of dairy cows were classified into three categories:feeding,ruminating and other behavior.The features of time-domain and frequency-domain were extracted from the raw acceleration data.Three machine learning algorithms including k-nearest neighbor,support vector machine and probabilistic neural network were used for the classification and the results based on four different data segment lengths were compared.The results show that the three algorithms can be used for recognition of feeding and ruminating with high accuracy.Under the condition that the sampling frequency of the sensor is 5 Hz,the combination of data segment length of 256 and k-nearest neighbor algorithm is the best scheme for recognition of feeding and ruminating in this study.The precision and recall of recognition for feeding were 92.8%and 95.6%respectively,and those of recognition for ruminating were 93.7%and 94.3%respectively.The specificity and AUC of recognition for feeding were 96.1%and 0.959 respectively,and those of recognition for ruminating were 97.5%and 0.959 respectively.This will provide an effective method for real-time monitoring of ingestive-related behaviors of dairy cows and lay a foundation for prediction of dairy cows’health status and welfare to further achieve the purpose of disease prediction and adjusting feeding and management methods.Weizheng Shen Fei Cheng Yu Zhang Xiaoli Wei Qiang Fu Yonggen Zhang 2020Information Processing in Agriculture2020,7,3:5
11Identifying neutral allele Sb at pollen-sterility loci in cultivated rice with Oryza rufipogon origin显示文摘Pollen sterility is commonly found in the intra-specific hybrids of indica and japonica rice,which is one of the main constrains for the utilization of heterosis between indica and japonica.Six loci controlling the pollen sterility of F1 between indica and japonica have been identified from previous studies.Neutral alleles at each locus are potential to overcome the F1 pollen sterility associated with the locus.Therefore,exploitation and utilization of neutral alleles are of significant importance.The present research was based on fine mapping of the F1 pollen-sterility gene Sb and the abundant genetic diversity of Oryza rufipogon Griff.indigenous to Gaozhou,Guangdong Province(referred to as Gaozhou wild rice).Crosses were made using Taichung65(with the genotype of SbjSbj and referred to as E1) and its near-isogenic line of F1 pollen sterility gene Sb(with the genotype of SbiSbi,E2) as female parents,and 12 different accessions of Gaozhou wild rice as male parents.F1 pollen fertility was examined to identify the materials having the neutral alleles at the F1 pollen-sterility locus.Segregation of 4 molecular markers tightly linked with the Sb locus was analyzed in the F2 populations derived from the F1s carrying the neutral gene.The pollen fertility related to the 3 genotypes of the molecular markers was also checked by statistical test to determine whether it was consistent with the hypothesis.The results showed that the pollen fertility of two F1s from one accession of Gaozhou wild rice(GZW099) with E1 and E2 was(89.22±1.07)% and(85.65±1.05)%,respectively.Both of them were fertile and showed no significant difference by t-test.Segregation of the 3 genotypes of the 4 molecular markers followed the expected Mendelian ratio(1:2:1) in the F2 populations.There was no significant difference for the averaged pollen fertility of the plants related to the 3 genotypes,suggesting that no interaction exists between the alleles at the Sb locus in GZW099 and Taichung65 or E2.Evidentially,GZW099 carried the neutral gene(named SbnSbn) at the Sb locus,which provides valuable theoretical basis and resources for further studying and overcoming the sterility of indica-japonica hybrids.SHI LeiGang LIU XiangDong LIU Bo ZHAO XingJuan WANG Lan LI JinQuan LU YongGen 2009Chinese Science Bulletin2009,54,20:5
12Salicylic acid and ethylene signaling pathways are involved in production of rice trypsin proteinase inhibitors induced by the leaf folder Cnaphalocrocis medinalis(Guenée)显示文摘The roles of signaling pathways in the production of trypsin proteinase inhibitors(TrypPIs)in rice infested by the leaf folder(LF) Cnaphalocrocis medinalis were studied.Infestation by LF increased TrypPI levels in the leaves of rice plants at the tillering,booting and flowering stages but decreased TrypPI levels at the ripening stage;TrypPI levels in rice stems did not increase at any developmental stage.Infestation by LF at the tillering stage systemically increased TrypPI levels in leaves but not in stems;it also enhanced salicylic acid(SA)levels in leaves and stems,and the ethylene level released from plants.However,LF infestation did not increase JA concentrations.Exogenous application of SA or ethylene enhanced TrypPI levels in the leaves and stems of plants at the tillering stage,whereas treatment with both SA and ethylene induced lower levels of TrypPIs than treatment with SA or ethylene alone,suggesting an antagonistic effect of SA and ethylene on TrypPIs induction.The results suggest that both SA and ethylene signaling pathways are involved in the production of TrypPIs in rice induced by LF;moreover,the antagonistic effect of SA and ethylene may explain the changes in TrypPI levels seen at different plant developmental stages and in different organs.WANG Xia HU LiuCheng ZHOU GuoXin CHENG JiaAn LOU YongGen 2011Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,22:5
13Mining rice new germplasm containing S_5~n gene by functional molecular marker and sequencing显示文摘Inter-subspecific hybrids between indica and japonica varieties yield strong biological heterosis, but it is difficult to utilize the hybrids directly in commercial production due to sterility of F1. A special gene S5n may overcome the hybrids sterility, which is caused by the interaction between S5 loci. Recently, S5n had been cloned, and it was revealed containing a large DNA deletion sequence that made the gene nonfunctional, compared to S5i or S5j. We designed a pair of primers flanking the deletion sequence of S5n, and then applied to distinguish the varieties with S5n or non-S5n, convincing result suggested that the primers could be served as functional molecular marker to efficiently identify the new germplasm with S5n. Using the functional marker, we surveyed 197 varieties from China National Micro-core Rice Collection, and found ten of which represented S5n including following varieties: Haobuka, Sanbangqishiluo, Mubanggu, Xiaohonggu, Mowanggu’neiza, Laozaogu, Fanhaopi, Feie’nuo2, Baoxie-7B, Teqingxuanhui. Among them, two varieties Sanbangqishiluo and Laozaogu was previously reported to contain S5n gene. Further sequence analysis on the DNA sequence covering both sides of deletion in S5n of the 10 varieties confirmed that the detected sequences in above varieties was identical with those of varieties containing S5n, such as 02428 and Linglun. 14Temporal Evolution of Carbon Storage in Chinese Tea Plantations from 1950 to 2010显示文摘Tea(Camellia sinensis),an economically important crop grown in mountain regions,has been planted for thousands of years in South China.Tea plantations can potentially act as carbon(C) sink in local agrosystems due to their high plant biomass and provide soil conservation service.To assess the contribution of tea plantations to C sequestration,the chronosequence variations of C storage were assessed in the plants and soils(0-20 cm) of tea plantations in China from 1950 to 2010,and then the inter-annual and decadal variabilities of total C storage were estimated.Total C stocks in tea plants and soils in 2010 were 34.4 and 93.45 Tg,respectively.Carbon sequestration from 1950 to 2010 was 30.6 and 39.0 Tg in the plants and soils,respectively.The highest C sequestration happened during the 1980 s and the lowest during the 1950 s.The decadal average C sequestration rate ranged from 20.4 to 113.9 g m^(-2) year^(-1) in the standing tea plants,and from 54.6 to 98.8 g m^(-2) year^(-1) in soils during the period of 1950 to 2010.The average ratio of C storage in soils to that in plants was 3.00 ± 0.35 before 1970 and 2.44 ± 0.18 after 1970.The results suggested that tea plantation ecosystems made an important contribution to the C sinks in Chinese tea-producing regions.ZHANG Min CHEN Yonggen FAN Dongmei ZHU Qing PAN Zhiqiang FAN Kai WANG Xiaochang 2017Pedosphere2017,27,1:3

16Beach Morphology and Coastline Evolution in the Southern Bohai Strait显示文摘The beach studied in this paper spans a length of 51 km and is one of several long sandy beaches in the southern Bohai Strait. Due to the obstruction of islands in the northeast and the influence of the underwater topography, the wave environment in the offshore area is complex; beach types and sediment transport characteristics vary along different coasts. The coastlines extracted from six aerial photographs in different years were compared to demonstrate the evolving features. Seven typical beach profiles were selected to study the lateral beach variation characteristics. Continuous wind and wave observation data from Beihuangcheng ocean station during 2009 were employed for the hindcast of the local wave environment using a regional spectral wave model. Then the results of the wave hindcast were incorporated into the LITDRIFT model to compute the sediment transport rates and directions along the coasts and analyze the longshore sand movement. The results show that the coastline evolution of sand beaches in the southern Bohai Strait has spatial and temporal variations and the coast can be divided into four typical regions. Region(I), the north coast of Qimudao, is a slightly eroded and dissipative beach with a large sediment transport rate; Region(II), the southwest coast of Gangluan Port, is a slightly deposited and dissipative beach with moderate sediment transport rate; Region(III), in the central area, is a beach that is gradually transformed from a slightly eroded dissipative beach to a moderately or slightly strong eroded bar-trough beach from west to east with a relatively moderate sediment transport rate. Region(IV), on the east coast, is a strongly eroded and reflective beach with a weak sediment transport rate. The wave conditions exhibit an increasing trend from west to east in the offshore area. The distribution of the wave-induced current inside the wave breaking region and the littoral sediment transport in the nearshore region exhibit a gradual weakening tendency from west to east, which is opposite to the trend of the wave conditions outside the breaking region. The presence of submerged shoal(Dengzhou Shoal), deep trough(Dengzhou Channel), islands and irregular topography influnces the wave climate, beach types, wave-induced current features, littoral sediment transport trends and coastline evolution patterns in the southern Bohai Strait. 18Effect of Lactic Acid Bacterial Inoculants on Rice Straw Silage显示文摘The trail was designed to study on technique aspects of ensiling rice straw(RS)appended amounts of lactobacillus.There were two groups according to silage ways,baled silage(BS)and chopped silage(CS),in which lactobacillus was added at levels of 10,15 and 20 mg.kg-1,respectively and the mixtures were placed into a packed polyethylene bags and stored at room temperature for 45 days.The results showed that lactobacillus had remarkable effect on fermentation characteristics of RS.The quality of the silage was improved with the lactobacillus addition.In the experiment the optimal quality of rice straw silage(RSS)can be obtained when lactobacillus was added with 15 or 20 mg.kg-1 level.The effect of different silage methods was very remarkable to the silage quality of same material.The quality of CS was better than that of long silage,at the same time,BS was feasible on condition of eligible level of lactic acid bacteria.HUA Jinling ZHANG Yonggen MEN Yuxin 2008Journal of Northeast Agricultural University(English Edition)2008,15,1:2
19Molecular evolution of rice S_5~n and functional comparison among different sequences显示文摘The wide compatibility gene, S 5 n , can overcome embryo sac sterility between indica and japonica subspecies of rice. Therefore, it is very important to characterize the features of the S 5 n sequence to reveal the origin and evolution of S 5 n . In this paper, 26 cultivated rice haplotypes and 22 wild rice accessions harboring S 5 n were used to sequence S 5 n . The results showed that 15 genotypes among the 48 materials were fully consistent with control cultivar 02428 (CK). The other 33 accessions had different degrees of variation in the S 5 n sequence. Variations in the coding region mainly occurred in the second exon and eight materials showed a 10-bp deletion at 1710–1719 bp, including wild (O. nivara) and cultivated rice, such as IRW501 and Yuetai B. S 5 n sequences were not biased and evolved neutrally. The 48 materials could be divided into 4 categories using a phylogenetic tree of the amino acid sequences. Most of the wild rice clustered together, and the cultivated rice clustered into another group. Eight cultivated rice and O. nivara (wild rice) clustered in another group, which were found to lack 10 consecutive bases in exon 2. Eight rice varieties with high numbers of differences in their S 5 n coding regions were crossed with testers (typically indica and japonica) to produced test cross F 1 populations. The F 1 s were examined for their ability to overcome indica-japonica hybrid sterility. 20Assessment of dairy cow feed intake based on BP neural network with polynomial decay learning rate显示文摘To overcome the shortcomings of traditional dairy cow feed intake assessment model andBP neural network, this paper proposes a method of optimizing BP neural network usingpolynomial decay learning rate, taking the cow’s body weight, lying duration, lying times,walking steps, foraging duration and concentrate-roughage ratio as input variables andtaking the actual feed intake is the output variable to establish a dairy cow feed intakeassessment model, and the model is trained and verified by experimental data collectedon site. For the sake of comparative study, feed intake is simultaneously assessed by SVRmodel, KNN logistic regression model, traditional BP neural network model, and multilayerBP neural network model. The results show that the established BP model using the polynomial decay learning rate has the highest assessment accuracy, the MSPE, RMSE, MAE,MAPE and R2 are 0.043 kg2/d and 0.208 kg/d, 0.173 kg/d, 1.37% and 0.94 respectively. Compared with SVR model and KNN mode, the RMSE value reduced by 43.9% and 26.5%, it isalso found that the model designed in this paper has many advantages in comparison withthe BP model and multilayer BP model in terms of precision and generalization.
