| 1 | The association of benign prostatic hyperplasia with lower urinary tract stones in adult men: A retrospective multicenter study显示文摘Objective:To examine the relationship between benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH)and the presence of lower urinary tract stones.Methods:We retrospectively reviewed the records of men with lower urinary tract stones who presented to three clinical centers in Korea over a 4-year period.We divided the patients into two groups based on the location of urinary stones:Group 1(bladder calculi)and Group 2(urethral calculi).We compared the characteristics of both groups and performed univariate and multivariate analyses with a logistic regression model to investigate the relationship between BPH and lower urinary tract stones.Results:Of 221 patients,194(87.8%)had bladder calculi and 27(12.2%)had urethral calculi.The mean age of Group 1 was higher than that of Group 2(68.9612.11 years vs.55.7414.20 years,p<0.001).The mean prostate volume of Group 1 was higher than that of Group 2(44.4727.14 mL vs.24.706.41 mL,respectively,p<0.001).Multivariate logistic regression showed that age(OR Z 1.075,95%CI:1.023e1.129)and prostate volume(OR Z 1.069,95%CI:1.017e1.123)were independently associated with increased risk for bladder calculi.Upper urinary tract stones and/or hydronephrosis conferred a 3-fold risk for urethral calculi(OR Z 3.468,95%CI:1.093e10.999).Conclusion:Age and prostate volume are independent risk factors for bladder calculi.In addition,men with upper urinary tract disease are at greater risk for urethral calculi,which may migrate from the upper urinary tract rather than from the bladder. | Jae Hung Jung Jinsung Park Won Tae Kim Hong Wook Kim Hyung Joon Kim Sungwoo Hong Hee Jo Yang Hong Chung | 2018 | Asian Journal of Urology2018，5，2： | 17 |
| 2 | Polarization reversal via a transient relaxor state in nonergodic relaxors near freezing temperature显示文摘Among the unresolved issues in the study of relaxor ferroelectrics is the role of freezing temperature,across which the dynamics of polarization reversal in relaxor ferroelectrics changes.The presence of this freezing temperature is best manifested by the appearance of a double polarization hysteresis loop just above the freezing temperature.Given that the polarization pinching evolving into a double hysteresis starts well below the freezing temperature,there exists a transient temperature regime between the nonergodic and the ergodic relaxor states.To clarify the role of the freezing temperature on the pinching,the polarization reversal near the freezing temperature of relaxor(Pb_(1-x)La_(x))(Zr_(1-y)T_(y))_(1-x/4)O_(3)(PLZT)was monitored using three in situ electric field methods:electrocaloric effect,neutron diffraction,and transmission electron microscopy.We demonstrate that the pinching results from a two-step process,1)domain detexturization in the ferroelectric state and 2)miniaturization of domains.This observation explains the recently reported gap between the depolarization temperature T_(d) and the ferroelectric-torelaxor transition temperature T_(F-R) in lead-free relaxors.We further show that T_(d) and T_(F-R),which have long been considered identical in lead-based relaxors,are not the same.The current study suggests that the mismatch between T_(d) and TF-R is an inherent feature in both lead-based and lead-free relaxor ferroelectrics. | Chang-Hyo Hong Hanzheng Guo Xiaoli Tan John E.Daniels Wook Jo | 2019 | Journal of Materiomics2019，5，4： | 4 |

| 5 | Gender differences in clinical outcomes of acute myocardial infarction undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention: insights from the KAMIR-NIH Registry显示文摘Background There are numerous but conflicting data regarding gender differences in outcomes following percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI). Furthermore, gender differences in clinical outcomes with acute myocardial infarction(AMI) following PCI in Asian population remain uncertain because of the under-representation of Asian in previous trials. Methods A total of 13,104 AMI patients from Korea Acute Myocardial Infarction Registry-National Institute of Health(KAMIR-NIH) between November 2011 and December 2015 were classified into male(n = 8021, 75.9%) and female(n = 2547, 24.1%). We compared the demographic, clinical and angiographic characteristics, 30-days and 1-year major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events(MACCE) in women with those in men after AMI by using propensity score(PS) matching. Results Compared with men, women were older, had more comorbidities and more often presented with non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction(NSTEMI) and reduced left ventricular systolic function. Over the median follow-up of 363 days, gender differences in both 30-days and 1-year MACCE as well as thrombolysis in myocardial infarction minor bleeding risk were not observed in the PS matched population(30-days MACCE: 5.3% vs. 4.7%, log-rank P = 0.494, HR = 1.126, 95% CI: 0.800-1.585;1-year MACCE: 9.3% vs. 9.0%, log-rank P = 0.803, HR = 1.032, 95% CI: 0.802-1.328;TIMI minor bleeding: 4.9% vs. 3.9%, log-rank P = 0.215, HR = 1.255, 95% CI: 0.869-1.814). Conclusions Among Korean AMI population undergoing contemporary PCI, women, as compared with men, had different clinical and angiographic characteristics but showed similar 30-days and 1-year clinical outcomes. | 7 | Sex-based differences in histology,staging,and prognosis among 2983 gastric cancer surgery patients显示文摘BACKGROUND Few studies have been conducted on sex differences in the incidence, pathophysiology, and prognosis of gastric cancer(GC).AIM To analyze the differences in GC characteristics according to sex in patients who underwent surgical treatment for GC.METHODS A total of 2983 patients diagnosed with gastric adenocarcinoma who received surgical treatment at the Seoul National University Bundang Hospital between 2003 and 2017 were included.Baseline clinicopathological characteristics, histologic type of GC, overall and GC-specific survival rates, and associated risk factors were analyzed.RESULTS Among the 2983 patients, 2005(67.2%) and 978(32.8%) were males and females, respectively.The average age of the female group(59.36 years) was significantly younger than that of the male group(61.66 years;P < 0.001).Cancer of the gastric body(P < 0.001) and diffuse-type histology(P < 0.001) were more common in females than in males.This trend was more prominent in females younger than 60 years of age, with a significantly higher proportion of diffuse-type cancer than in the male group.Regardless of sex, diffuse-type GC was more common in younger patients, and the proportion of intestinal-type GC increased with age.The overall survival rate was significantly higher in females(P < 0.001).However, this difference disappeared for GC-specific survival(P = 0.168), except for the poor GC-specific survival rate in advanced-stage cancer(stage Ⅲ or above) in females(P = 0.045).The risk factors for GC-related mortality were older age, upper location of GC, and diffuse-or mixed-type histology.In terms of comorbidities, more males died from diseases other than GC, including other malignancies such as lung cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, and pancreatic cancer, and respiratory diseases such as interstitial lung disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, while there were relatively more cardiovascular or cerebrovascular deaths in females.CONCLUSION Sex-based differences in GC were observed in clinicopathological features, including age at diagnosis, tumor location, histologic type, survival rate, and comorbidities. | Yonghoon Choi Nayoung Kim Ki Wook Kim Hyeong Ho Jo Jaehyung Park Hyuk Yoon Cheol Min Shin Young Soo Park Dong Ho Lee Hyeon Jeong Oh Hye Seung Lee Young Suk Park Sang-Hoon Ahn Yun-Suhk Suh Do Joong Park Hyung-Ho Kim Ji-Won Kim Jin Won Kim Keun-Wook Lee Won Chang Ji HoonPark Yoon Jin Lee Kyoung Ho Lee Young Hoon Kim | 2022 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2022，28，9： | 2 |
