| 2 | New vacuum solar telescope and observations with high resolution显示文摘The New Vacuum Solar Telescope(NVST) is a one meter vacuum solar telescope that aims to observe fine structures on the Sun. The main goals of NVST are high resolution imaging and spectral observations, including measurements of the solar magnetic field. NVST is the primary ground-based facility used by the Chinese solar research community in this solar cycle. It is located by Fuxian Lake in southwest China, where the seeing is good enough to perform high resolution observations. We first introduce the general conditions at the Fuxian Solar Observatory and the primary science cases of NVST. Then, the basic structures of this telescope and instruments are described in detail. | 3 | Are humic substances soil microbial residues or unique synthesized compounds?A perspective on their distinctiveness显示文摘Humic substances(HS),which are defined as a series of highly acidic,relatively high-molecular-weight,and yellow to black colored substances formed during the decay and transformation of plant and microbial remains,ubiquitously occur in nature.Humic substances represent the largest stable organic carbon pool in terrestrial environments and are the central characteristic of the soil.However,the validity of the HS concept and the justification of their extraction procedure have been recently debated.Here,we argue that the traditional humic paradigm is still relevant.Humic substances are distinctive and complex because the extracted HS formed during the humification are chemically distinct from their precursors and are heterogeneous among soils.By reviewing the concept,formation pathways,and stabilization of HS,we propose that the key question facing soil scientists is whether HS are soil microbial residues or unique synthesized compounds.Without revealing the distinctiveness of HS,it is impossible to address this question,as the structure,composition,and reactivity of HS are still poorly known owing to the heterogeneity and geographical variability of HS and the limits of the currently available analytical techniques.In our view,the distinctiveness of HS is fundamental to the soil,and thus further studies should be focused on revealing the distinctiveness of HS and explaining why HS hold this distinctiveness. | Sen DOU Jun SHAN Xiangyun SONG Rui CAO Meng WU Chenglin LI Song GUAN | 2020 | Pedosphere2020,30,2: | 12 |

| 5 | Grain-size Characteristics of Sediments Formed Since 8600 yr B.P. in Middle Reaches of Yarlung Zangbo River in Tibet and Their Paleoenvironmental Significance显示文摘Widespread aeolian sediments have been found in the middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River, China. The grain-size characteristics of sediments from Cha’er Section in the area were analyzed. The results show that the section include one stratum of paleo-mobile dunes, four strata of paleo-semi-fixed dunes, two strata of paleo-fixed dunes, one stratum of sandy immature soils. The paleo-mobile and paleo-semi-fixed dune sand in this section are simi- lar to modern aeolian sand in either grain-size composition or Mz and σ distribution. Compared the above types of dunes each other, the content of sand substance decreases, while the content of silt and clay increases for paleo-fixed dunes and sandy immature soils. Combined with age data for each stratum, the analysis shows that these strata are the products of climate changes and the evolution of aeolian landforms. The evolutionary sequence of the paleoclimate and of aeolian activities in the valley since 8600 yr B.P. reveals four stages: 8600–5700 yr B.P., when the paleoclimate was cold and dry, with strong winds, thereby activating dunes; 5700–3600 yr B.P., when it was warm and wet, with weak winds, causing dunes to undergo soil-forming processes; 3600–1900 yr B.P., when climate shifted from cold-dry with strong winds to warm-wet with weak winds, and activated dunes were fixed again; and 1900 yr B.P. –present, when the climate became fine, with weak winds, fixing dunes again. | ZHENG Yinghua WU Yongqiu LI Sen TAN Lihua GOU Shiwei ZHANG Hongyan | 2009 | Chinese Geographical Science2009,19,2: | 10 |
| 6 | MAPPING OF THE RICE (ORYZA SATIVA L.) THERMO-SENSITIVE GENIC MALE STERILE GENE TMS5 WITH EST AND SSR MARKERS显示文摘With the cDNA suppression subtraction hybridization method, a spikelet-specific cDNA library was constructed that expressed at meiosis stage in rice. A total of 121 cDNA fragments were selected from the library and used as EST (expressed se-quence tags) markers to detect the polymorphism between Annong N, a normal fertile Indica rice line and Annong S-1, its spontaneous mutant with thermo-sensitive genic male sterility, using the RFLP (restriction fragment length polymorphism) technique. HN57, one of the EST probes, could detect poly-morphism between them. The results of segregation analysis with the F2 population developed from An-nong S-1 and Annong N indicate that HN57 co-seg- regates with the thermo-sensitive genic male-sterility controlled by tms5, the recessive gene in Annong S-1. This marker is located on the 31.2-cM region of the chromosome 2 of RGP (rice genome research pro-gram) genetic map. To further determine the location of tms5, 80 SSR (simple sequence repeat) markers around this region were developed, and 12 of them were polymorphic. | 7 | The apricot(Prunus armeniaca L.)genome elucidates Rosaceae evolution and beta-carotenoid synthesis显示文摘Apricots,scientifically known as Prunus armeniaca L,are drupes that resemble and are closely related to peaches or plums.As one of the top consumed fruits,apricots are widely grown worldwide except in Antarctica.A high-quality reference genome for apricot is still unavailable,which has become a handicap that has dramatically limited the elucidation of the associations of phenotypes with the genetic background,evolutionary diversity,and population diversity in apricot.DNA from P.armeniaca was used to generate a standard,size-selected library with an average DNA fragment size of~20 kb.The library was run on Sequel SMRT Cells,generating a total of 16.54 Gb of PacBio subreads(N50=13.55 kb).The high-quality P.armeniaca reference genome presented here was assembled using long-read single-molecule sequencing at approximately 70×coverage and 171×Illumina reads(40.46 Gb),combined with a genetic map for chromosome scaffolding.The assembled genome size was 221.9 Mb,with a contig NG50 size of 1.02 Mb.Scaffolds covering 92.88%of the assembled genome were anchored on eight chromosomes.Benchmarking Universal Single-Copy Orthologs analysis showed 98.0%complete genes.We predicted 30,436 protein-coding genes,and 38.28%of the genome was predicted to be repetitive.We found 981 contracted gene families,1324 expanded gene families and 2300 apricot-specific genes.The differentially expressed gene(DEG)analysis indicated that a change in the expression of the 9-cis-epoxycarotenoid dioxygenase(NCED)gene but not lycopene beta-cyclase(LcyB)gene results in a lowβ-carotenoid content in the white cultivar“Dabaixing”.This complete and highly contiguous P.armeniaca reference genome will be of help for future studies of resistance to plum pox virus(PPV)and the identification and characterization of important agronomic genes and breeding strategies in apricot. | Fengchao Jiang Junhuan Zhang Sen Wang Li Yang Yingfeng Luo Shenghan Gao Meiling Zhang Shuangyang Wu Songnian Hu Haoyuan Sun Yuzhu Wang | 2019 | Horticulture Research2019,6,1: | 9 |

| 9 | Comparison of screening strategies for Lynch syndrome in patients with newly diagnosed endometrial cancer:a prospective cohort study in China显示文摘Background: The prevalence of Lynch syndrome and screening strategies for this disorder in Chinese patients with endometrial cancer have seldom been investigated. Such data would be essential for the screening, prevention, genetic counseling, and treatment of Lynch syndrome. The purpose of this prospective study was to determine the accuracy of the mismatch repair (MMR) protein immunohistochemistry (IHC), microsatellite instability (MSI) test, and clinical diagnostic criteria in screening for Lynch syndrome-associated endometrial cancer (LS-EC) in a prospective Chinese cohort. Methods: All patients with newly diagnosed endometrial cancer (EC) were evaluated using clinical diagnostic criteria (Amsterdam II criteria and the revised Bethesda guidelines), MSI test, and IHC of MMR proteins in tumor tissues. For all patients, the screening results were compared with results of germline sequencing for pathogenic variants of MMR genes. Results: Between December 2017 and August 2018, a total of 111 unselected patients with newly diagnosed EC were enrolled. Six patients (5.4%) harbored a pathogenic germline mutation of MMR genes: 1 had a mutation in MutL homolog 1 (MLH1), 2 in MutS homolog 2 (MSH2), and 3 in MutS homolog 6 (MSH6). The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV) for identifying LS-EC were 33.3%, 88.6%, 14.3%, and 95.9%, for the clinical criteria, 66.7%, 75.0%, 14.3%, and 97.3% for IHC of MMR proteins, 100%, 89.9%, 33.3%, and 100% for MSI test, and 100%, 72.4%, 20.0% and 100% for combined IHC and MSI test, respectively. The combination of IHC and MSI test had higher sensitivity and PPV than the clinical criteria (p = 0.030). MSI test and IHC were highly concordant for LS-EC screening (73/77, 94.8%). | 10 | Association of Overlapped and Un-overlapped Comorbidities with COVID-19 Severity and Treatment Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Nine Provinces in China显示文摘Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear.Methods A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of COVID-19.Results Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two weeks.Conclusion Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. | 16 | Dual-lens beam compression for optical coupling in superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors显示文摘The optical coupling of superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors(SNSPDs) has always been restricted to a single-mode fiber for a limited detection area. In this study, for enhancing photon coupling, a dual-lens system operating at 2.2 K was used to compress the beam size on the basis of the Gaussian beam theory and geometric approximation. A magnification of approximately 0.3 was obtained, and a focused spot with diameter of approximately 10 lm was measured from a multimode fiber. Assisted with the compressed beam, a system efficiency of 55 %(1550 nm) was achieved for a SNSPD with a detection area of 10 lm 9 10 lm and 62.5 lm multimode fiber coupling. At the same time, a high speed of106 MHz was measured with the proposed system. | 19 | Hazard evaluation of ignition sensitivity and explosion severity for three typical MH_(2) (M=Mg,Ti,Zr)of energetic materials显示文摘MgH_(2),TiH_(2),and ZrH_(2) are three typical metal hydrides that have been gradually applied to composite explosives and propellants as additives in recent years.To evaluate ignition sensitivity and explosion severity,the Hartmann device and spherical pressure vessel were used to test ignition energy and explosion pressure,respectively.The results showed that the ignition sensitivity of ZrH_(2),TiH_(2) and MgH_(2) gradually increased.When the concentration of MgH_(2) is 83.0 g/m^(3) in Hartmann device,the ignition energy attained a minimum of 10.0 mJ.The explosion pressure of MgH_(2) were 1.44 times and 1.76 times that of TiH_(2) and ZrH_(2),respectively,and the explosion pressure rising rate were 3.97 times and 9.96 times that of TiH_(2) and ZrH_(2),respectively,through the spherical pressure vessel.It indicated that the reaction reactivity and reaction rate of MgH_(2) were higher than that of TiH_(2) and ZrH_(2).In addition,to conduct in edepth theoretical analysis of ignition sensitivity and explosion severity,gas production and combustion heat per unit mass of ZrH_(2),TiH_(2) and MgH_(2) were tested by mercury manometer and oxygen bomb calorimetry.The experimental results revealed that MgH_(2) had a relatively high gas production per unit mass(5.15 mL/g),while TiH_(2) and ZrH_(2) both had a gas production of less than 2.0 mL/g.Their thermal stability gradually increased,leading to a gradual increase in ignition energy.Furthermore,compared with theoretical combustion heat,the combustion ratio of MgH_(2),TiH_(2) and ZrH_(2) was more than 96.0%,with combustion heat value of 29.96,20.94 and 12.22 MJ/kg,respectively,which was consistent with the explosion pressure and explosion severity test results. | Xing-liang Wu Sen Xu Ai-min Pang Wei-guo Cao Da-bin Liu Xin-yu Zhu Fei-yang Xu Xu Wang | 2021 | Defence Technology(防务技术)2021,17,4: | 6 |
| 20 | Late Paleozoic to Mesozoic extension in southwestern Fujian Province, South China: Geochemical, geochronological and Hf isotopic constraints from basic-intermediate dykes显示文摘The tectonic evolution of SE China block since late Paleozoic remains debated.Here we present a new set of zircon U-Pb geochronological,Lu-Hf isotopic data and whole-rock geochemistry for two stages of basicintermediate dykes from the southwestern Fujian.The samples were collected from the NE-trending(mainly diabases) and NW-trending(mainly diabasic diorites) dykes and yielded zircon U-Pb ages of 315 and 141 Ma,with ε_(Hf)(t) values of-8.90 to 7.49 and-23.39 to-7.15(corresponding to T_(DM2) values of 850 to 1890 Ma and 737 to 2670 Ma),respectively.Geochemically these rocks are characterized by low TiO_2(0.91-1.73 wt.%)and MgO(3.04-7.96 wt.%),and high Al_2O_3(12.5-16.60 wt.%) and K_2O(0.60-3.63 wt.%).Further they are enriched in LREEs and ULEs(Rb,Ba,Th and K).but depleted in HFSEs(Nb,Ta and Zr).The tectonic discrimination analysis revealed that the dykes were formed in an intraplate extensional environment.However,the NW trending dykes show crust-mantle mixed composition,which indicate an extensional tectonic setting with evidence for crustal contamination.The SE China block experienced two main stages of extensional tectonics from late Carboniferous to early Cretaceous.The tectonic evolution of the SE China block from late Devonian to Cretaceous is also evaluated. | Sen Wang Da Zhang Ganguo Wu Absai Vatuva Yongjun Di Pengcheng Yan Haibin Feng Shuai Ma | 2017 | Geoscience Frontiers2017,8,3: | 6 |
