| 1 | Role of essential oils in food safety: Antimicrobial and antioxidant applications显示文摘Essential oils(EOs)are more complex and comprise a number of volatile and natural bioactive compounds,which often used in food industries as the best alternatives.This review focuses on the impact of EOs and the roles of their major components in food manufacturing as natural preservatives with the related mechanisms of action.In addition,the major bioactive molecules of different types of EOs and their pharmacological activities such as antioxidant,antifungal and antimicrobial effects on crop protection were also discussed.The major compounds of EOs represent potential antioxidant,antimicrobial and antifungal activities through various mechanisms.Different types of EOs such as tea tree oil,lemon oil,clove oil,cinnamon oil and thyme oil from various traditional plants,have significantly showed better antimicrobial and antioxidant activities,and also effectively increased the shelf lives of the cereal products and increased the quality of food safety.The major groups of EOs such as terpenes and aromatic volatile compounds,play a key role in food safety without affecting the quality.Due to their various activities including antioxidant and antimicrobial activities,EOs could be used as alternative preservatives to increase the shelf lives of cereals and crops. | Sundaresan Bhavaniramya Selvaraju Vishnupriya Mohammad Saleh Al-Aboody Rajendran Vijayakumar Dharmar Baskaran | 2019 | Grain & Oil Science and Technology2019,2,2: | 8 |

| 4 | 拟南芥CKI1基因上游转录调控因子筛选及鉴定显示文摘拟南芥CKI1(cytokininindependent 1)是双组分信号系统中一个组氨酸激酶蛋白,通过作用于下游组氨酸磷酸转移蛋白激活双组分信号通路,在调控胚囊中央细胞命运分化和发育过程中具有重要作用。然而目前对于CKI1基因上游转录调控因子还知之甚少。本研究分析了不同长度的CKI1启动子在拟南芥胚囊中的活性,并利用酵母单杂交技术对CKI1上游转录调控因子进行了筛选和鉴定。结果表明,位于内含子区域中的F5/R2片段表现出与CKI1启动子全长相一致的表达活性。进一步选取3个串联重复的F5/R2片段用于构建诱饵表达载体,同时,选取拟南芥雌蕊构建cDNA文库,通过酵母单杂交筛选获得226个阳性克隆。去除低质量及冗余重复的序列后共获得66条可读序列,其中8条序列对应的基因编码具有DNA结合功能的蛋白。研究结果为进一步揭示CKI1基因的转录调控机制提供了重要参考信息。 | 刘振宁 袁黎 Venkatesan Sundaresan 余小林 | 2019 | 遗传2019,41,5: | 2 |
| 5 | The Tomato Hybrid Proline-rich Protein regulates the abscission zone competence to respond to ethylene signals显示文摘The Tomato Hybrid Proline-rich Protein(THyPRP)gene was specifically expressed in the tomato(Solanum lycopersicum)flower abscission zone(FAZ),and its stable antisense silencing under the control of an abscission zone(AZ)-specific promoter,Tomato Abscission Polygalacturonase4,significantly inhibited tomato pedicel abscission following flower removal.For understanding the THyPRP role in regulating pedicel abscission,a transcriptomic analysis of the FAZ of THyPRP-silenced plants was performed,using a newly developed AZ-specific tomato microarray chip.Decreased expression of THyPRP in the silenced plants was already observed before abscission induction,resulting in FAZ-specific altered gene expression of transcription factors,epigenetic modifiers,post-translational regulators,and transporters.Our data demonstrate that the effect of THyPRP silencing on pedicel abscission was not mediated by its effect on auxin balance,but by decreased ethylene biosynthesis and response.Additionally,THyPRP silencing revealed new players,which were demonstrated for the first time to be involved in regulating pedicel abscission processes.These include:gibberellin perception,Ca2+-Calmodulin signaling,Serpins and Small Ubiquitin-related Modifier proteins involved in post-translational modifications,Synthaxin and SNARE-like proteins,which participate in exocytosis,a process necessary for cell separation.These changes,occurring in the silenced plants early after flower removal,inhibited and/or delayed the acquisition of the competence of the FAZ cells to respond to ethylene signaling.Our results suggest that THyPRP acts as a master regulator of flower abscission in tomato,predominantly by playing a role in the regulation of the FAZ cell competence to respond to ethylene signals. | Srivignesh Sundaresan Sonia Philosoph-Hadas Chao Ma Cai-Zhong Jiang Joseph Riov Raja Mugasimangalam Betina Kochanek Shoshana Salim Michael SReid Shimon Meir | 2018 | Horticulture Research2018,5,1: | 2 |

| 20 | Clinical exome sequencing facilitates the understanding of genetic heterogeneity in Leber congenital amaurosis patients with variable phenotype in southern India显示文摘Background:Leber congenital amaurosis(LCA),primarily characterized by retinal degeneration is the most severe form of inherited retinal dystrophy(IRD)responsible for congenital blindness.The presence of phenotypic heterogeneity makes the diagnosis of LCA challenging,especially in the absence of pronounced disease pathognomonic,yet it can be well comprehended by employing molecular diagnosis.Therefore,the present study aimed to reveal the causative mutations in ten LCA patients with variable phenotypes using clinical exome sequencing(CES).Methods:CES was performed in ten unrelated LCA patients.Ophthalmic information and family history of all patients were obtained to make a meaningful interpretation.The clinical exome data was analyzed and prioritized using a bioinformatics pipeline to identify mutations,which was further validated by Sanger sequencing.Segregation analysis was also performed on available family members.Results:CES led to the identification of causative mutations in nine LCA patients.Seven patients harbored a mutation in six LCA candidate genes,including RPE65,LCA5(n=2),CRX,PRPH2,CEP290,and ALMS1,while two patients possess a mutation in IFT80 and RP1,known to cause other diseases.Three novel mutations in LCA5(c.1823del),CRX(c.848del)and CEP290(c.2483G>T)were identified.The current study reports for the first time,a mutation in PRPH2,CEP290,and ALMS1 from the Indian population.Additionally,we observed a novel association of LCA phenotype with IFT80 known to cause Jeune syndrome.Based on the genetic finding,the patient AS09,who harbored a mutation in the RP1 gene,was re-diagnosed with early-onset retinitis pigmentosa.Conclusion:In conclusion,the results underline the importance of CES in clinically diagnosed LCA patients with variable phenotypes.The correlation between mutations in candidate genes and clinical phenotypes,helps to refine the clinical diagnosis.However,molecular evaluation with a larger cohort of LCA patients is needed for better understanding of the mutational spectrum in southern India. | Sriee Viswarubhiny Rupa Anjanamurthy Ayyasamy Vanniarajan Devarajan Bharanidharan Vijayalakshmi Perumalsamy Periasamy Sundaresan | 2021 | Eye and Vision2021,8,1: | 1 |
