2Sealing of the hepatic resection area using fibrin glue reduces significant amount of postoperative drain fluid显示文摘AIM: To investigate whether the routine use of fibrin glue applied onto the hepatic resection area can diminish postoperative volume of bloody or biliary fluids drained via intraoperatively placed perihepatic tubes and can thus lower the complication rate.METHODS: Two groups of consecutive patients with a comparable spectrum of recent hepatic resections were compared: (1) 13 patients who underwent application of fibrin glue immediately after resection of liver parenchyma;(2) 12 patients who did not. Volumes of postoperative drainage fluid were determined in 4-h intervals through 24 h indicating the intervention caused bloody and biliary segregation.RESULTS: Through the first 8 h postoperatively, there was a tendency of higher amounts of fluids in patients with no additional application of fibrin glue while through the following intervals, a significant increase of drainage volumes was documented in comparison with the first two 4-h intervals, e.g., after 12 h, 149.6 mL +/-110 mL vs 63.2 mL +/-78 mL. Using fibrin glue, postoperative fluid amounts were significantly lower through the postoperative observation period of 24 h (851 mL +/-715 mL vs 315 mL +/-305 mL).CONCLUSION: For hepatic resections, the use of fibrin glue appears to be advantageous in terms of a significant decrease of surgically associated segregation of blood or bile out of the resection area. 3Multiphase-field modelling of concurrent grain growth and coarsening in complex multicomponent systems显示文摘Phase-field modelling of microstructural evolution in polycrystalline systems with phase-associated grains has largely been confined to continuum-field models.In this study,a multiphase-field approach,with a provision for introducing grain boundary and interphase diffusion,is extended to analyse concurrent grain growth and coarsening in multicomponent polycrystalline microstructures with chemically-distinct grains.The effect of the number of phases and components on the kinetics of evolution is investigated by considering binary and ternary systems of duplex and triplex microstructures,along with a single phase system.It is realised that the mere increase in the number of phases minimises the rate of concurrent grain growth and coarsening.However,the effect of components is substantially dependent on the respective kinetic coefficients.This work unravels that the disparity in the influence of phases and components is primarily due to the corresponding change introduced in the transformation mechanism.While the raise in number of phases convolutes the diffusion paths,the increase in number of component effects the rate of evolution through the interdiffusion,which introduces interdependency in the diffusing chemical-species.Additionally,the role of phase-fractions on the transformation rate of triplex microstructure is studied,and correspondingly,the interplay of interface-and diffusion-governed evolution is elucidated.A representative evolution of three-dimensional triplex microstructure with equal phase-fraction is comparatively analysed with the evolution of corresponding two-dimensional setup.P.G.Kubendran Amos Ramanathan Perumal Michael Selzer Britta Nestler 2020Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,42,10:2
