Time range of Mesozoic tectonic regime inversion in eastern North China Block显示文摘An important tectonic inversion took place in eastern North China Block(NCB) during Mesozoic, which caused a great lithosphere thinning, reconstruction of basin-range series, powerful interaction between mantle and crust, a vast granitic intrusion and volcanism, and large-scale metallogenic explosion. The time range of the Mesozoic tectonic regime inversion in the eastern North China Block is one of the key issues to understand mechanism of tectonic regime inversion. Our updated results for recognizing the time range are mainly obtained from the following aspects: structural analyses along northern and southern margins of the NCB and within the NCB for revealing tectonic inversion from compression to extension and structural striking from ~EW to NNE; geothermic analyses of the eastern sedimental basins for a great change of thermal history and regime; basin analysis for basin inversion from compression to extension and basin migration from ~EW to NNE; petrological and geochemical studies of volcanic rocks and lowermost crust xenoliths for recognizing peak period of mantle upwelling and intense interaction between mantle and crust, and main metallogenic epoch. All the studies of the above give the same time range from~150-140 Ma to ~110-100Ma, peaking at ~120 Ma. | ZHAI Mingguo ZHU Rixiang LIU Jianming MENG Qingren HOU Quanlin HU Shengbiao LIU Wei LI Zhong ZHANG Hongfu ZHANG Huafeng | 2004 | Science China Earth Sciences2004,47,2: | 89
Cratonization and the Ancient North China Continent:A summary and review显示文摘Cratonization is a key geological process to form stable continental masses with a considerable scale. The Precambrian global cratonization and formation of supercratons in the world is an unrepeated event in the history of the Earth's formation and evolution.Mainly based on study of early Precambrian geology in Eastern Hebei Region and combining other Archean regions in the North China Craton (NCC),the author proposes a two-stage cratonization model of the NCC.The first stage took place at the end of Neoarchean of ~2.5 Ga (boundary time between Archean and Proterozoic),when several micro-blocks were amalgamated together with amphibolite-granulite facies metamorphism and intrusion of crustal-melting granites to form the present-scale NCC.The second cratonization event is cratonic reworking, corresponding to rifting-subduction-collision at 2.3-1.97 Ga and subsequent extension-uplifting related to upwelling mantle at 1.97-1.82 Ga,which could be linked to,respectively, assembly and breaking up of the Columbia Supercontinent.Three main Paleoproterozoic mobile belts in the NCC record that small remnant Neoarchean ocean basins and continental rift basins within the craton were opened and finally closed, and metamorphosed to greenschist-amphibolite facies at ~2.0-1.97 Ga.After that,high-grade granulite facies (HT-HP and HT-UHT) metamorphism with abnormally high heat occurred at 1.97-1.82 Ga.A metamorphism-migmatization event that includes lower crust of the NCC uplifting as a whole, intrusion of mafic dyke swarms, continental rifting and anorogenic magmatic action took place in 1.82-1.65 Ga,marking that the second cratonization of the NCC was finally accomplished and started to evolve to a period of stable continent (platform). | ZHAI MingGuo | 2011 | Science China Earth Sciences2011,54,8: | 131
Age of the Miyun dyke swarm:Constraints on the maximum depositional age of the Changcheng System显示文摘A group of NE-trending(~30°)mafic dykes, termed Miyun swarm herein, are distributed around the Miyun Reservoir, northe China, and have individual widths of over 40 m,and lengths of up to 8000 m.Baddeleyite grains were extracted from a~40 wide dyke.Using an isotope dilution thermal ionization mass spectrometry method, these grains yield an average 207Pb/206Pb a of 1731±4 Ma(n=4;or 1731±1 Ma,n=3).Because this dyke is overlain unconformably by conglomerates of the Changzhoug Formation, the lowermost formation of the Changcheng Group, the maximum depositional age of this group is constrained to no earlier than 1731 Ma.This result also suggests that the Changcheng System, with the Changcheng Group as its standard stra graphic section,is younger than 1731 Ma.The Miyun dykes possibly have distinct petrogenesis from the subsequent anorth site-rapakivi intrusions(1730-1680 Ma),which are thought to be responsible for the opening of the Yan-Liao rift, where Changcheng Group was deposited. Thus it is reasonable to set the initial boundary of the Changchengian Period at 1730 Ma slightly younger. | PENG Peng LIU Fu ZHAI MingGuo GUO JingHui | 2012 | Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,1: | 40
Multi-stage crustal growth and cratonization of the North China Craton显示文摘The North China Craton(NCC) has a complicated evolutionary history with multi-stage crustal growth, recording nearly all important geological events in the early geotectonic history of the Earth. Our studies propose that the NCC can be divided into six micro-blocks with >~3.0-3.8 Ga old continental nuclei that are surrounded by Neoarchean greenstone belts(CRB).The micro-blocks are also termed as highgrade regions(HGR) and are mainly composed of orthogneisses with minor gabbros and BIF-bearing supracrustal beds or lenses, all of which underwent strong deformation and metamorphism of granulite- to high-grade amphibolite-facies.The micro-blocks are,in turn, from east to west, the Jiaoliao(JL),Qianhuai(QH),Ordos(ODS),Ji’ning(JN) and Alashan(ALS) blocks, and Xuchang(XCH) in the south.Recent studies led to a consensus that the basement of the NCC was composed of different blocks/terranes that were finally amalgamated to form a coherent craton at the end of Neoarchean.Zircon U-Pb data show that TTG gneisses in the HGRs have two prominent age peaks at ca.2.9-2.7 and2.6-2.5 Ga which may correspond to the earliest events of major crustal growth in the NCC.Hafnium isotopic model ages range from ca.3.8 to 2.5 Ga and mostly are in the range of 3.0-2.6 Ga with a peak at2.82 Ga.Recent studies revealed a much larger volume of TTG gneisses in the NCC than previously considered, with a dominant ca.2.7 Ga magmatic zircon ages. Most of the ca.2.7 Ga TTG gneisses underwent metamorphism in 2.6-2.5 Ga as indicated by ubiquitous metamorphic rims around the cores of magmatic zircon in these rocks.Abundant ca.2.6-2.5 Ga orthogneisses have Hf-in-zircon and Nd wholerock model ages mostly around 2.9-2.7 Ga and some around 2.6-2.5 Ga,indicating the timing of protolith formation or extraction of the protolith magma was from the mantle. Therefore,it is suggested that the 2.6-2.5 Ga TTGs probably represent a coherent event of continental accretion and major reworking(crustal melting). As a distinct characteristic, nearly all GRBs in the NCC underwent amphibolite-facies metamorphism.Zircon U-Pb ages of metamorphosed GRB mafic rocks mainly show two peak ranges at ~2.6-2.5 and 2.8-2.7 Ga.The mafic rocks are commonly believed to be derived from metabasalts,it is therefore possible that the ages represent the time of metamorphism. The tectonic settings of the GRBs are still a problem.Their geochemical characteristics are, respectively, similar to back-arc basins, rifts, island arcs or suggest imprints of mantle plumes.BIFs occur in all GRBs but also in the HGRs.This metallogenic specificity is quite different from all Phanerozoic geotectonic settings.The-2.5 Ga metamorphic-magmatic event is stronger than in most other cratons in the world. How to understand the geological significance of the 2.5 Ga event? The following points are emphasized:(1)nearly all old rocks >2.5 Ga underwent metamorphism at ~2.52-2.5 Ga;(2) Archean basement rocks in the NCC experienced strong partial melting and migmatization;(3) granitoid rocks derived from partial melting include potassium granites,TTG granites and monzonites. These granitoids rocks intruded both the Archean greenstone belts and micro-blocks;(4) ~2.5 Ga mafic dikes(amphibolites),granitic dikes(veins) and syenitic-ultramafic dykes are also developed. Therefore,we suggest an assembly model that all micro-blocks in the NCC were welded together by late Archean greenstone belts at the end of the late Neoarchean. We also propose that the various micro-blocks were surrounded by small ocean basins, and the old continental crust and the oceanic crust were hotter than today.Subduction and collision were on much smaller scales as compared to the Phanerozoic plate tectonic regime, although the tectonic style and mechanisms were more or less similar. The formation of crustal melt granites is one of the processes of cratonization, inducing generation of stable upper and lower crustal layers. This process also generated an upper crust of more felsic composition and a lower crust of more mafic composition, due to molten residual materials and some underplated gabbros. | Mingguo Zhai | 2014 | Geoscience Frontiers2014,5,4: | 40
The main old lands in China and assembly of Chinese unified continent显示文摘The main old lands in China include the North China Block(NCB),South China Block(SCB)and Tarim Block(TRB),all of which have individual tectonic evolving histories. The NCB experienced complex geological evolution since the early Precambrian onwards, and carries important records from the old continental nuclei, giant crustal growth episode and cratonization(stabilitization),then to the Paleoproterozoic rifting-subduction-accretion-collision with imprints of the Great Oxygen Event(GOE),and to the Late Paleoproterozoic-Neoproterozoic multi-stage rifting representing North China platform tectonic features. The TRB has two-layer basement of the Early Precambrian metamorphic complexes and Neoproterozoic sedimentary sequences.Three till sheets have been reported. The SCB consists of the Yangtze Block(YZB)and Cathaysia Block(CTB)that were cohered in the Neoproterozoic. The YZB recorded tectonic processes of the Early Precambrian crustal growth,1.0–0.9 Ga and 0.8–0.6 Ga metamorphic-magmatic events, and two Neoproterozoic glaciations. The CTB consists of ca.1.8Ga,1.0 to 0.9 Ga and ca.0.8 Ga granitic gneisses and metamorphic rocks, indicating there was a vast Precambrian basement. The Neoproterozoic sedimentary rocks overlie partly on the basement. That the YZB and CTB have a Neoproterozoic uniform cover layer illustrates the SCB should form,at least, during 1.0–0.9 Ga,corresponding to the Rodinia Supercontinent. The Central Chinese Orogenic System with high-ultra-high-pressure metamorphic rocks supports a suggestion that the abovementioned three old lands were collided to assemble a unified Chinese Continent during the Pangea orogenic period. | ZHAI MingGuo | 2013 | Science China Earth Sciences2013,56,11: | 33
Sm-Nd age dating of high-pressure granulites and amphi-bolite from Sanggan area,North China craton显示文摘The high pressure (HP) metamorphic age has been dated to HP rocks from the Sanggan area, North China craton. We have got garnet+whole rock isochron ages of (1 842±38) Ma for HP granulite, and (1 856± 26) Ma for HP amphibolite. The Sm-Nd whole rock isochron of HP granulites give out an age of (1870±150) Ma with Nd depleted mantle model age of (2402-2 482) Ma. Considering the Nd isotope homogenization during the peak metamorphism of the HP granulite, Sm-Nd closure temperature and the retention of Nd isotopic memory in garnets partially broken down during decompression, all these isochron ages are thought to be HP metamorphic age. Furthermore, we proposed that the HP metamorphism took place at the end of Paleoproterozoic during the large-scale collision and assembly of the North China craton. | Jinghui Guo Mingguo Zhai | 2001 | Chinese Science Bulletin2001,46,2: | 21

Operation of Networked Microgrids in a Distribution System显示文摘In this work,a PSCAD electromagnetic model is constructed for a microgrid community. It consists of three microgrids networked through the medium voltage(MV)distribution system as a practical case of the distributed resource island systems of IEEE Standard 1547.4.Typical operational scenarios are then simulated for both grid connected and islanded mode of operation. The study outcomes demonstrate the operational feasibility of networked microgrids in electrical distribution systems and the effectiveness of common droop controls in facilitating energy transaction of the microgrids and maintaining voltage and frequency stabilities under normal network disturbances. This investigation is significant in that it addresses the needs and issues arising from primary controls for facilitating the energy transactions of secondary and tertiary controls in the hierarchical control strategy of networked microgrids in the MV distribution system.Future studies of the secondary and tertiary control algorithms will need to incorporate new requirements for ensuring distribution system voltage and frequency securities. | Fan Zhang Huiying Zhao Mingguo Hong | 2015 | CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems2015,1,4: | 17
Renewed profile of the Mesozoic magmatism in Korean Peninsula: Regional correlation and broader implication for cratonic destruction in the North China Craton显示文摘Widespread Mesozoic magmatism occurs in the Korean Peninsula(KP). The status quo is poles apart between the northern and southern parts in characterizing its distribution and nature, with the nearly absence of any related information in North Korea. We have the opportunity to have conducted geological investigations in North Korea and South Korea during the past ten years through international cooperation programs. This led to the revelation of a number of granitoids and related volcanic rocks and thus facilitates the comparison with those in East China and Japan. Mesozoic granitoids in the KP can be divisible into three age groups: the Triassic group with a peak age of ~220 Ma, the Jurassic one of ~190–170 Ma and the late Early Cretaceous one of ~110 Ma. The Triassic intrusions include syenite, calc-alkaline to alkaline granite and minor kimberlite in the Pyeongnam Basin of North Korea. They have been considered to form in post-orogenic settings related to the Central Asian Orogenic Belt(CAOB) or the Dabie-Sulu Orogenic Belt(DSOB). The Jurassic granitoids constitute extensive occurrence in the KP and are termed as the Daebo-period magmatism. They correlate well with coeval counterparts in NE China encompassing the northeastern part of the North China Craton(NCC) and the eastern segment of the CAOB. They commonly consist of biotite or two-mica granites and granodiorites, with some containing small dark diorite enclaves. On one hand, Early Jurassic to early Middle Jurassic magmatic rocks are rare in most areas of the NCC, whilst Middle-Late Jurassic ones are not developed in the KP. On the other hand, both NCC and KP host abundant Cretaceous granites. However, the present data revealed contrasting age peaks, with ~130–125 Ma in the NCC and ~110–105 Ma in the KP. Cretaceous granites in the KP comprise the dominant biotite granites and a few amphibole granites. The former exhibit mildly fractionated REE patterns and zircon εHf(t) values from ?15 to ?25, whereas the latter feature strongly fractionated REE patterns and zircon εHf(t) values from ?10 to ?1. Both granites contain inherited zircons of ~1.8–1.9 or ~2.5 Ga. These geochemical characters testify to their derivation from re-melting distinct protoliths in ancient basement. Another Cretaceous magmatic sub-event has been entitled as the Gyeongsang volcanism, which is composed of bimodal calc-alkaline volcanic rocks of 94–55 Ma and granitic-hypabyssal granitic bodies of 72–70 Ma. Synthesizing the Mesozoic magmatic rocks across the KP, NCC and Japan can lead to the following highlights:(1) All Triassic granites in the NCC, KP and Japan have similar characteristics in petrology, chronology and geochemistry. Therefore, the NCC, KP and Japan tend to share the same tectonic setting during the Triassic, seemingly within the context of Indosinian orogensis.(2) Jurassic to earliest Cretaceous magmatic rocks in the NCC seem to define two episodes: episode A from 175 to 157 Ma and episode B from 157 to 135 Ma. Jurassic magmatic rocks in the KP span in age mainly from 190 to 170 Ma, whereas 160–135 Ma ones are rare. With the exception of ~197 Ma Funatsu granite, Jurassic magmatic rocks are absent in Japan.(3) Cretaceous granites in the KP have a peak age of ~110, ~20 Ma younger than those in the NCC, while Japan is exempt from ~130–100 Ma granites.(4) The spatial-temporal distribution and migratory characteristics of theJurassic-Cretaceous magmatic rocks in Japan, KP, and NE China-North China indicate that the subduction of the Paleo-Pacific plate might not be operative before Late Cretaceous(~130–120 Ma).(5) Late Cretaceous magmatic rocks(~90–60 Ma) occur in the southwestern corner of the KP and also in Japan, coinciding with the metamorphic age of ~90–70 Ma in the Sanbagawa metamorphic belt of Japan. The magmatic-metamorphic rock associations and their spatial distribution demonstrate the affinities of sequentially subduction zone, island arc and back-arc basin from Japan to Korea, arguing for the Pacific plate subduction during Late Cretaceous.(6) This study raises another possibility that the Mesozoic cratonic destruction in the NCC, which mainly occurred during ~150–120 Ma, might not only be due to the subduction of the Paleo-Pacific Plate, but also owe much to the intraplate geodynamic forces triggered by other adjacent continental plates like the Eurasian and Indian plates. | ZHAI MingGuo ZHANG YanBin ZHANG XiaoHui WU Fu Yuan PENG Peng LI Qiu Li HOU QuanLin LI TieSheng ZHAO Lei | 2016 | Science China(Information Sciences)2016,59,12: | 16
Late Mesoarchean crust growth event: evidence from the ca. 2.8 Ga granodioritic gneisses of the Xiaoqinling area, southern North China Craton显示文摘Recently, more attention has been paid to Precambrian magma events and crustal growth of the North China Craton(NCC), accompanying with controversy in activity stages and dynamic mechanism. In this study, we report the Archean(2802 ± 13 Ma) granodioritic gneisses in the Taihua Complex from the Xiaoqinling area, located in the southern margin of the NCC. The zircon Lu–Hf isotope analysis of the rocks showed ^(176)Hf/^(177)Hf ratios of0.280977–0.281228, corresponding to ε_(Hf)(t) values ranging from-3.5 to +6.6, and two–stage Hf model ages varying from 2836 to 3409 Ma. It was confirmed that late Mesoarchean(2.9–2.8 Ga) juvenile crust made contribution to the source material of these ca. 2.8 Ga granodioritic gneisses in the Xiaoqinling area. The whole rock geochemical data indicate that the granodioritic gneisses are high-K calc-alkaline series, probably generated at relatively high pressure and temperature, and formed under the continental arc setting. Statistically, we conclude that the magmatic activities during 2.9–2.7 Ga may represent the most intense crustal growth events in the NCC and these Archean rocks at different locations in southern NCC underwent a similar crustal evolution history. | Xiaoliang Jia Xiyan Zhu Mingguo Zhai Yan Zhao Hong Zhang Jialin Wu Tao Liu | 2016 | Science Bulletin2016,61,12: | 16
Major Advances in the Study of the Precambrian Geology and Metallogenesis of the North China Craton:A Review显示文摘The North China Craton(NCC) is one of the most ancient cratons in the world and records a complex geological evolution since the early Precambrian. In addition to recording major geological events similar to those of other cratons, the NCC also exhibits some unique features such as multistage cratonization(late Archaean and Palaeoproterozoic) and long-term rifting during the Meso–Neoproterozoic. The NCC thus provides one of the best examples to address secular changes in geological history and metallogenic epochs in the evolving Earth. We summarize the major geological events and metallogenic systems of the NCC, so that the evolutionary patterns of the NCC can provide a better understanding of the Precambrian NCC and facilitate comparison of the NCC with other ancient continental blocks globally. The NCC experienced three major tectonic cycles during the Precambrian:(1) Neoarchaean crustal growth and stabilization;(2) Palaeoproterozoic rifting–subduction–accretion–collision with imprints of the Great Oxidation Event and(3) Meso–Neoproterozoic multi-stage rifting. A transition from primitive- to modern-style plate tectonics occurred during the early Precambrian to late Proterozoic and is evidenced by the major geological events. Accompanying these major geological events, three major metallogenic systems are identified:(1) the Archaean banded iron formation system;(2) Palaeoproterozoic Cu–Pb–Zn and Mg–B systems and(3) a Mesoproterozoic rare earth element–Fe–Pb–Zn system. The ore-deposit types in each of these metallogenic systems show distinct characteristics and tectonic affinities. | ZHAO Lei ZHU Xiyan ZHAI Mingguo | 2016 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2016,90,4: | 10
Internet of Things to network smart devices for ecosystem monitoring显示文摘Smart, real-time, low-cost, and distributed ecosystem monitoring is essential for understanding and managing rapidly changing ecosystems. However, new techniques in the big data era have rarely been introduced into operational ecosystem monitoring, particularly for fragile ecosystems in remote areas. We introduce the Internet of Things(IoT) techniques to establish a prototype ecosystem monitoring system by developing innovative smart devices and using IoT technologies for ecosystem monitoring in isolated environments. The developed smart devices include four categories: large-scale and nonintrusive instruments to measure evapotranspiration and soil moisture, in situ observing systems for CO2 and d13 C associated with soil respiration, portable and distributed devices for monitoring vegetation variables, and Bi-CMOS cameras and pressure trigger sensors for terrestrial vertebrate monitoring. These new devices outperform conventional devices and are connected to each other via wireless communication networks. The breakthroughs in the ecosystem monitoring IoT include new data loggers and longdistance wireless sensor network technology that supports the rapid transmission of data from devices to wireless networks. The applicability of this ecosystem monitoring IoT is verified in three fragile ecosystems, including a karst rocky desertification area, the National Park for Amur Tigers, and the oasis-desert ecotone in China. By integrating these devices and technologies with an ecosystem monitoring information system, a seamless data acquisition, transmission, processing, and application IoT is created. The establishment of this ecosystem monitoring IoT will serve as a new paradigm for ecosystem monitoring and therefore provide a platform for ecosystem management and decision making in the era of big data. | Xin Li Ning Zhao Rui Jin Shaomin Liu Xiaomin Sun Xuefa Wen Dongxiu Wu Yan Zhou Jianwen Guo Shiping Chen Ziwei Xu Mingguo Ma Tianming Wang Yonghua Qu Xinwei Wang Fangming Wu Yuke Zhou | 2019 | Science Bulletin2019,64,17: | 10
Comparative Study of Water-soluble and Alkali-soluble Hemicelluloses Extracted by Hydrothermal Pretreatment显示文摘The purpose of this study was to explore the differences of the hemicelluloses extracted by hydrothermal pretreatment using water and alkaline solutions(Na OH or KOH). The physicochemical properties and structural characteristics of two water-soluble and four alkali-soluble hemicelluloses extracted from the triploid of Populus tomentosa Carr. through the hydrothermal pretreatment were comparatively studied. It was observed that the alkalis(Na OH and KOH) were more effective than distilled water as extractants. Sugar analysis showed that xylose(66.83%~86.49%) was the major constituent, followed by glucose(6.83%~18.49%). Mannose(1.40%~8.42%), galactose(2.17%~4.05%), and arabinose(0.21%~2.26%) were also detected in the hemicellulosic fractions. The results of gelpermeation chromatography(GPC) indicated that the hemicelluloses extracted using the alkaline solutions had relatively higher molecular weights than those solubilized in distilled water. Further, based on spectroscopic ~1Hnuclear magnetic resonance(~1H-NMR) and two-dimensional heteronuclear singular quantum correlation(2D-HSQC) analyses, it was confirmed that the hemicellulosic fractions had a major structure of(1→4)-b-D-xylan and a minor structure of(1→4)-a-D-glucan with small amounts of substituted sugars and glucuronic acid attached. | LianHua Fu LingYan Meng YaYu Li MingGuo Ma | 2017 | Paper And Biomaterials2017,2,1: | 7
Characterization of Hemicelluloses Extracted from Populus tomentosa Carr. by the Hydrothermal Method with Ethanol显示文摘The aim of this study was to investigate the hemicelluloses extracted from Populus tomentosa Carr.by the hydrothermal method with ethanol. The influence of ethanol concentration on the hemicellulosic fractions was systematically studied. The chemical compositions and structural features of the hemicellulosic fractions were investigated by a combination of sugar analysis,gel-permeation chromatography,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and one-dimensional proton and carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance, and two-dimensional heteronuclear single quantum coherence spectroscopy.Neutral sugar analysis of the hemicellulosic fractions revealed that a higher ethanol concentration(45%~80%) favored the isolation of hemicelluloses with more side chains and lower glucose contents. The molecular weights of these polysaccharides ranged between 2842 g/mol and 5101 g/mol.The results of this study indicate that the hydrothermal ethanol process provides a new pretreatment strategy for the isolation and extraction of biomass. | LianHua Fu Shan Liu ShuMing Li YaYu Li MingGuo Ma | 2017 | Paper And Biomaterials2017,2,3: | 7
Gold mineralization age of the Anjiayingzi gold deposit in Chifeng County, Inner Mongolia and implications for Mesozoic metallogenic explosion in North China显示文摘The Anjiayingzi gold deposit in Chifeng County, Inner Mongolia is located in the central part of the gold mineralization belt of the northern margin of the North China Craton (NCC), and is adjacent to the Paleozoic Inner Mongolia-Da Hinggan Mountains orogenic belt in the north. The Chifeng-Kaiyuan fault, which separates the NCC from this orogenic belt, is considered to be a regional ore-controlling structure. The Anjiayingzi gold deposit is a mediate-size quartz lode-gold deposit and is hosted by the Anjiayingzi quartz monzonite that was emplaced into the basement composed of early Precambrian gneisses. Rhyolitic and porphyritic dikes are generally associated with the gold mineralization. Zircon U-Pb analyses suggest that the Anjia- yingzi granite was emplaced from 132 Ma to 138 Ma, while the rhyolitic dikes that occupy the same fracture system as the gold-bearing quartz veins and locally crosscut the gold lodes crystallized from 125 Ma to 127 Ma. These results constrain the mineralization age between 126 Ma and 132 Ma, early Cretaceous time for the Anjiayingzi gold deposit. This mineralization age is consistent with that of the gold deposits in other major gold-bearing areas of the NCC, such as the Jiaodong Peninsula and the Xiaoqinling Mountain, and specially is roughly coeval with the geodynamic reversion of the NCC in Mesozoic. This coincidence probably indicates that the gold deposits in the NCC, including the Anjiayingzi deposit, formed in a similar geodynamic setting characterized by large-scale thinning of the lithosphere underlying the NCC. | LI Yonggang ZHAI Mingguo YANG Jinhui MIAO Laicheng GUAN Hong | 2004 | Science China Earth Sciences2004,47,2: | 7
Carbon isotopes, sulfur isotopes, and trace elements of the dolomites from the Dengying Formation in Zhenba area, southern Shaanxi: Implications for shallow water redox conditions during the terminal Ediacaran显示文摘Carbon isotope, sulfur isotope, and trace element(including Rare Earth Elements, REE) analyses were conducted on the carbonates of the Dengying Formation at Lianghekou section in southern Shaanxi to reconstruct the terminal Ediacaran shallow-water environment on the northwestern margin of the Yangtze Platform. At Lianghekou section, samples in the middle 50-m of the Beiwan Member show characteristics of low ΣREE concentrations, no MREE-enriched REE distribution patterns, high Ce/Ce* values close to 1, and enriched redox-sensitive elements, whereas samples in the lower 30-m and upper 10-m show opposite characteristics of high ∑REE concentrations, MREE-enriched REE distribution patterns, low Ce/Ce* values around 0.6, and no redox-sensitive elements enriched, indicating that oxygenation did occur in the shallow water on the northwestern margin of the Yangtze Platform and redox conditions of the shallow water fluctuated from relatively oxygenated to anoxic and then back to oxygenated again. We propose that the anoxia appeared in middle of the Beiwan time may associate with the anoxic upwelled water. On one hand, abundant nutrients were brought in by this upwelling event, which stimulated the photosynthetic carbon fixation and increased the organic carbon burial under this anoxic condition, causing a peak of 3.6‰ in δ 13 C. On the other hand, because the anoxic upwelled water replaced the oxic shallow water, together with the increasing organic matter in the water column, bacterial sulfate reduction was enhanced and therefore quickly reduced the sulfate concentration, which eventually caused δ 34 S increasing to 50‰. However, as the upwelling gradually disappeared, δ 13 C and δ 34 SCAS values decreased as well in the late Beiwan time, indicating the shallow water went back to suboxic or oxic again. | CHEN YaLi CHU XueLei ZHANG XingLiang ZHAI MingGuo | 2015 | Science China Earth Sciences2015,58,7: | 6

SEDIMENT YIELD MODELING FOR SINGLE STORM EVENTS BASED ON HEAVY-DISCHARGE STAGE CHARACTERIZED BY STABLE SEDIMENT CONCENTRATION显示文摘The relation between runoff volume and sediment yield for individual events in a given watershed receives little attention compared to the relation between water discharge and sediment yield, though it may underlie the event-based sediment-yield model for large-size watershed. The data observed at 12 experimental subwatersheds in the Dalihe river watershed in hilly areas of Loess Plateau, North China, was selected to develop and validate the relation. The peak flow is often considered as an important factor affecting event sediment yield. However, in the study areas, sediment concentration remains relatively constant when water discharge exceeds a certain critical value, implying that the heavier flow is not accompanied with the higher sediment transport capacity. Hence, only the runoff volume factor was considered in the sediment-yield model. As both the total sediment and runoff discharge were largely produced during the heavy-discharge stage, and the sediment concentration was negligibly variable during this stage, a proportional function can be used to model the relation between event runoff volume and sediment yield for a given subwatershed. The applicability of this model at larger spatial scales was also discussed, and it was found that for the Yaoxinzhuang station at the Puhe River basin, which controls a drainage area of 2264km2, a directly proportional relation between event runoff volume and sediment yield may also exist. | Mingguo ZHENG Qiangguo CAI Qinjuan CHENG | 2007 | International Journal of Sediment Research2007,22,3: | 5
Experimental study on the P wave velocity in rocks from lower crust and crust-mantle transitional zone beneath the Hannuoha显示文摘Cenozoic basalt-borne mafic granulite-facies plagioclase pyroxenite and eclogite-facies garnet pyroxenite xenoliths from the Hannuoba, as well as nearby Archean terrain granulites, are selected for the experimental study on the P wave velocity at high temperature and high pressure in order to reveal the present-day compositional features for the lower crust and crust-mantle transitional zone. Results show that mafic xenoliths have high Vp (7.0~8.0 km/s), in contrast, the Archean terrain granulites have low Vp (<7.0 km/s). High Vp mafic xenoliths can represent the present-day compositional features for the lower crust and crust-mantle transitional zone beneath the Hannuoba. This provides new evidence for the crust vertical growth and the formation of the crust-mantle transitional zone resulting from the magma underplating. Low Vp Archean granulite still remains the characteristics of the early lower crust. | FAN Qicheng SUI Jianli ZHANG Hongfu ZHAI Mingguo and XIE Hongsen(1. | 20 | Zircon U-Pb geochronology of tuffite beds in the Baishugou Formation:Constraints on the revision of Ectasian System at the southern margin of the North China Craton显示文摘The Xiamaling Formation of 1.4–1.35 Ga in Jixian Section and adjoining areas represents a unique Ectasian Period(Mesoproterozoic)sedimentary sequence in the North China Craton(NCC).Studies carried out during the last decade have contributed significantly in improving our understanding about the Ectasian sedimentation tectonics in the NCC during this transitional interval between the breakup of Supercontinent Columbia and the assembly of Rodinia. The present study reports, for the first time, tuffite beds interlayered with carbonaceous-siliceous slate-phyllite in the upper Baishugou Formation(western Henan Province),at the southern margin of NCC.The LA-MC-ICPMS U-Pb geochronology of zircons from two tuffite samples has yielded almost identical ages of 1330±10 Ma(MSWD=0.43,N=38)and 1332±10 Ma(MSWD=0.90,N=24),that constrain a 1.33 Ga depositional age(Ectasian Period)for the Baishugou Formation.A close similarity in lithological characteristics and their respective superimposed lithostratigraphic relationships of the Baishugou and Xiamaling formations, underline a comparable depositional environment for them. The high-precision geochronology data on the Baishugou Formation would stimulate a relook into the Meso-Neoproterozoic chronostratigraphic framework of the NCC,and further research would lead to a comprehensive understanding of the geological evolution of the NCC during Ectasian Period and its correlation with analogous global events. | Xiyan ZHU Shiyan WANG Wenbo SU Taiping ZHAO Lanyin PANG Mingguo ZHAI | 2020 | Science China Earth Sciences2020,63,11: | 4
