15Anti-Candida and anti-Cryptococcus evaluation of 15 non-alkaloidal compounds from Pterogyne nitens显示文摘Objective: To evaluate anti-Candida and anti-Cryptococcus activities of 15 nonalkaloidal compounds from Pterogyne nitens Tulasne(Leguminosae), a South American medicinal plant.Methods: Compounds were submitted to antifungal assays, using microdilution method described by Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute document, with minor modifications. Five species of Candida and two species of Cryptococcus, including clinical isolates were screened. Antifungal activity was expressed by minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC). Amphotericin B and fluconazole were used as standard antifungal drugs.Results: Among tested compounds, six substances presented fungal growth inhibition(MIC < 31.2 mg/m L) [three flavone derivatives(1–3), a glycosylated flavonol derivative(5)and two phenolic acids(10 and 12)]. Sorbifolin(1), exhibited potent antifungal activity,demonstrating MIC value of 3.90 mg/m L against Candida glabrata ATCC 90030, Cryptococcus gattii 118 and fluconazole-resistant clinical isolate of Cryptococcus neoformans var. grubii. 17Residual Feed Intake as a Measure to Select Genetically Productive Beef Cattle: A Review显示文摘Measures such as residual feed intake(RFI)have been increasingly considered to select cattle with superior feed efficiency,as it is a characteristic of feed efficiency calculated as the difference between observed intake and estimated intake considering metabolic weight and the weight gain.Estimated feed intake is obtained through the multiple regression equation of observed consumption on metabolic mean live weight and weight gain.The standard was shared among animals into one herd selected for low RFI(high efficiency)and compared to the one selected for high RFI(low efficiency).There was no correlated response in weight per year and in weight gain,and the effectiveness of low RFI selection in reducing feed costs was proven without affecting production.However,selection of animals with negative RFI is not done by selecting animals directly according to the size of the viscera,rather it is done indirectly,that is,when selecting the most efficient animals and normally these animals already have the smallest viscera size.The RFI is a trait that presents genetic variability,selectable to improve and has moderate heritability,between 0.30 and 0.35.The RFI is important because it reduces the direct economic impacts of reduced feed intake,as well as the effects of environmental impact on reducing methane emissions from enteric fermentation of ruminants.Tiago Neves Pereira Valente Andréia Santos Cezário Wallacy Barbacena Rosa dos Santos Jeferson Corrêa Ribeiro Eliandra Maria Bianchini Oliveira Erico da Silva Lima Bruno Borges Deminicis Thasia Martins Macedo Rogério de Carvalho Veloso 2020Journal of Agricultural Science and Technology(B)2020,10,2:0

19Meiotic behavior and pollinic viability in bean cultivars显示文摘The aims of this study were to determine the meiotic behavior and to estimate pollen grains via-bility in bean(Phaseolus vulgaris L.)cultivars.Flower buds were collected during different developmental stages of the Mesoamerican bean cultivars IAPAR 44,Guapo Brilhante,BRS Expedito,BRS Valente,Guateian 6662 and Pérola,and the Andean bean cultivar Iraí,grown in a greenhouse.The meiotic index was determined by anther squashing of material fixed in absolute ethanol-glacial acetic acid(3:1)and stained with acetic orcein.No meiotic abnormalities were observed and the meiotic indices were high for all cultivars,indicating that the mismatch generated during crosses is not related to any meiotic changes.Estimation of pollen viability was made by comparing acetic orcein staining vs.Alexander’s reactive:pollen viability was high in all cultivars with either stain,but was significantly higher when using the acetic orcein stain(>99%).Though some cultivar showed a significantly smaller pollen size,the range of variation among cultivars was low(means’range 51-66μm).Gracieli DALLA NORA Solange Bosio TEDESCO Tamara PASTORI Viviane Dal-Souto FRESCURA Nerinéia Dalfollo RIBEIRO Haywood Dail LAUGHINGHOUSE IV Sidinei JoséLOPES Maria Teresa SCHIFINO-WITTMANN 2014BIOCELL2014,38,1:0
