2Influence of the impounding process of the Three Gorges Reservoir up to water level 172.5m on water eutrophication in the Xiangxi Bay显示文摘The water level of the Three Gorges Reservoir(TGR) rose to 172.5 m in two stages from September to November,2008.The hydrodynamic parameters and water quality parameters(e.g.flow velocity, temperature, turbidity and nutrient content) had been continuously monitored to reveal the influence of the impounding process of the TGR on the water eutrophication in the Xiangxi Bay(XXB).The maximal daily rise of the water level of the TGR was about 2.38 m.The water exchange between the mainstream(the Changjiang River) and the XXB of the TGR was enhanced by density current, and its main characteristics were a density-stratified flow in different directions. The water exchange reduced the differences of the water quality parameters(for example, temperature, turbidity, nutrient level,pH,etc.) between the mainstream and the XXB during the impounding process.Meanwhile, the water stability index in the mainstream remained small but it was lowered in the XXB.The main causes included the dilution by water of lower concentration of the chlorophyll a(Chl.a) entering from the mainstream, the decline of the water stability, and the increase of suspended silt, which induced the Chl.a to decrease in the XXB during the impounding process. The grade of the water eutrophication changed from middle eutrophic level to mesotrophic state in the process. However,as available nutrients were imported into the XXB from the mainstream during the impounding process the risk of water eutrophication increases in the XXB in the future.YANG ZhengJian1,LIU DeFu1,JI DaoBin1,2 & XIAO ShangBin1,3 1 College of Civil & Hydroelectric Engineering,China Three Gorges University,Yichang 443002,China 2 School of Water Resources & Hydropower Engineering,Wuhan University,Wuhan 430072,China 3 Institute of Earth Environment,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Xi’an 710075,China 2010Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,4:58
3Theory on real-time control of construction quality and progress and its application to high arc dam显示文摘A complete scheme for solving the key scientific problems associated with high-standard,high-intensity continuous construction of high arch dams was presented. First, based on a coupling analysis of construction system decomposition and coordination for a high arc dam,a mathematical model for real-time control of construction quality and progress that considers complex constraints was developed. Second,a method of progress control was proposed based on a dynamic simulation. Third,a dynamic quality control mechanism was established based on construction information collected using a PDA. Fourth,a system for integrating collected information, progress simulation and quality control analyses under a network environment was developed. Finally, these methods were applied to a practical project to show that each aspect of a construction process can be managed effectively and that real-time monitoring and feedback control can be realized. Our methods provide new theoretical principles and technical measures for quality and progress control in the high arc dam construction process.ZHONG DengHua1, REN BingYu1, LI MingChao1, WU BinPing1 & LI MingChuan2 1 Department of Hydraulic and Hydroelectric Engineering, School of Civil Engineering, Tianjin University, Tianjin 300072, China 2 Ertan Hydropower Development Company, Ltd., Chengdu 610051, China 2010Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,10:18

5A MATHEMATICAL MODEL FOR RESERVOIR SEDIMENTATION AND FLUVIAL PROCESSES显示文摘This paper consists of two parts: mechanism of non-equilibrium transport of non-uniform sediment and its application in the mathematical model. Based on a statistic approach of sediment transport proposed by the authors, a 1 - D equation of non-e- quilibrium transport for various size group of sediment particles is developed. Then equations to predict change of sediment concentration and the corresponding changes in size distribution of suspended load and bed material are also derived. The conception that changes in size distribution are interrelated to sediment-carrying capacity is expounded. These results reveal the essence of sediment transport of non-uniform sediment particles. In the second part a mathematical model incorporating the mentioned equations to compute deposition and scouring in reservoirs as well as the fluvial processes of river channels has been developed. Verification of the model agrees well with field data.Han Qiwei and He Mingmin (Senior Research Engineers, Dept. of Sedimentation Eng. Inst. of Water Conservancy and Hydroelectric Power Research.) 6THREE-DIMENSIONAL TURBULENCE NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF A STEPPED SPILLWAY OVERFLOW显示文摘In this paper, the k ε turbulence model is used to simulate the three dimensional turbulence flow over the stepped spillway at the Yubeishan reservoir. In order to solve the curved free water surface and to handle the complex boundary conditions, the fractional Volume Of Fluid (VOF) model that is applicable to the solution of the stratified two phase flow is introduced along with k ε turbulence model and the unstructured grid is used for the discretization of the irregular simulation domain. By these methods, the turbulence flow field of the stepped spillway is simulated successfully. The location of the free surface along the spillway, the magnitude and distribution of the velocity, the pressure on the step surface, the turbulence kinetic energy and turbulence dissipation rate are obtained by simulation. The changes and distributions of these characteristics along the width of the spillway are also obtained. The energy dissipation ratio of the stepped spillway is calculated according to the upstream and downstream water depth andChen Qun College of Hydraulic and Hydroelectric, Sichuan University, Chengdu 610065, ChinaDai Guang qing State Key Hydraulics Laboratory of High Speed Flows, Sichuan University, Chengdu 610065, ChinaZhu Fen qing Geotechnic Engineering Co., Second 2002Journal of Hydrodynamics2002,14,3:9

8Unified solutions for stresses and displacements around circular tunnels using the Unified Strength Theory显示文摘The unified solutions are presented for stresses and displacements around a circular tunnel subjected to a hydrostatic stress field. The rock mass is assumed to be elastic-brittle-plastic and governed by the Unified Strength Theory. The displacements are obtained accounting for three different definitions for elastic strains and different Young's modulus in the plastic zone. The unified solutions obtained in this paper are especially versatile in reflecting the intermediate principal stress effect to different extents for different materials. The conventional solutions, based on the Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion and the Generalized Twin Shear Stress yield criterion, are special cases of the present unified solutions. The new unified solutions can compare with those computed by the latest generalized Hoek-Brown failure criterion. The results obtained demonstrate the importance of the intermediate principal stress influence for the stresses and displacements analysis. The effects of different definitions for elastic strains and different Young's modulus in the plastic zone on the displacements are significant.ZHANG ChangGuang1,WANG JiangFeng2 & ZHAO JunHai3 1 Department of Geotechnical Engineering,Tongji University,Shanghai 200092,China 2 North China Institute of Water Conservancy and Hydroelectric Power,Zhengzhou 450011,China 3 School of Civil Engineering,Chang’an University,Xi’an 710061,China 2010Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,6:8
93-D NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF FLOW THROUGH AN ORIFICE SPILLWAY TUNNEL显示文摘A Large Eddy Simulation (LES) approach based on the weakly compressible hydrodynamic equation with a single plase fluid model for the cavitation flow has been developed and employed in simulating 3 D unsteady viscous flow through an orifice type spillwy tunnel. The finite volume approach in space and the predictor corrector method in time have been used to the numerical discretization, and the 'Law of wall' is applied at the solid boundary. The velocity, pressure fields and the cavitation phenomenon are obtained, the computational results show that 3 D LES approach can give more realistic flow field prediction of the orifice type spillway tunnel.Zhang Chang bing, Yang Yong quan Hydraulics and Hydroelectric Engineering College, Sichuan University, Chengdu 610065, China 2002Journal of Hydrodynamics2002,14,3:6
10Research on analysis method for temperature control information of high arch dam construction显示文摘Temperature control, which is directly responsible for the project quality and progress, plays an important role in high arch dam construction. How to discover the rules from a large amount of temperature control information collected in order to guide the adjustment of temperature control measures to prevent cracks on site is the key scientific problem. In this paper,a mathematic logical model was built firstly by means of a coupling analysis of temperature control system decomposition and coordination for high arch dam. Then,an analysis method for temperature control information was presented based on data mining technology.Furthermore, the data warehouse of temperature control was designed, and the artificial neural network forecasting model for the highest temperature of concrete was also developed. Finally, these methods were applied to a practical project. The result showed that the efficiency and precision of temperature control was improved, and rationality and scientificity of management and decision-making were strengthened. All of these researches provided an advanced analysis method for temperature control in the high arch dam construction process.ZHONG DengHua,ZHAO ChenSheng & REN BingYu Department of Hydraulic and Hydroelectric Engineering,School of Civil Engineering,Tianjin University,Tianjin 300072,China 2011Science China(Technological Sciences)2011,54,S1:6

15Jackson type theorems on complex curves显示文摘Let Γ be a closed smooth Jordan curve in the complex plane. In this paper, with the help of a class of fundamental functions of Hermite interpolation, the author introduces a continuous function interpolation which uniformly approximates to f(z) ∈ C(Γ ) with the same order of approximation as that in Jackson Theorem 1 on real interval [1, 1]. The accuracy of the order of approximation is proved. Using the method different from the early works, the author studies simultaneous approximation to function and its derivatives and the desired results analogues to that in Jackson Theorem 2 on real interval [1, 1] are obtained.TU TianLiang Deptartment of Mathematics and Informatics, North China Institute of Water Conservancy and Hydroelectric Power, Zhengzhou 450011, China 2009Science China Mathematics2009,52,3:3

17CONCURRENT SORPTION OF HEAVY METAL POLLUTANTS OF SEDIMENT OF DIFFERENT GRAIN SIZES显示文摘Generally, sediment in natural rivers is non-uniform, and sorption capacities of different grain sizes vary greatly. In order to quantitatively describe sorption of heavy metal pollutant by sediment in natural rivers, the concurrent sorption by sediment of different grain sizes should be studied. By combining systematic laboratory experiments and theoretical analysis the concurrent equilibrium sorption model and the concurrent sorption dynamic model by sediment of different grain sizes have been set up. Both of them indicate that there is no competition or interference among different grain sizes, its sorption content of unit weight of sediment is the sum of the sorption contents of each grain sizes , and the content of each grain size in non-uniform sediment. Furthermore, formulas for determining characteristic parameters ( b and k) in the Langmuir sorption isotherm for non-uniform sediment are deduced as follows:These can be used as a tool for predicting the sorption content of non-uniformHuang Sui-liangState Key Joint Laboratory of Environmental Simulation and Pollution Control, Laboratoryof Water Environment Simulation,Beijing Normal University, Beijing 100875, P.
