| 1 | Research on the dynamics of the South China Sea opening:Evidence from analogue modeling显示文摘Independent of Indochina extrusion, the South China Sea experienced a process from passive continental rifting to marginal sea drifting. According to the fault patterns in the Beibu Gulf basin and the Pearl River Mouth basin, the continental rifting and early spreading stage from 32 to 26 Ma were controlled by extensional stress field, which shifted clockwise from southeastward to south southeastward. From 24 Ma on, the sea spread in NW-SE direction and ceased spreading at around 15.5 Ma. Integrated geological information with the assumption that the South China Sea developed along a pre-Cenozoic weakness zone, we did analogue experiments on the South China Sea evolu- tion. Experiments revealed that the pre-existing weakness zone goes roughly along the uplift zone between the present Zhu-1 and Zhu-2 depression. The pre-existing weakness zone is composed of three segments trending NNE, roughly EW and NEE, respectively. The early opening of the South China Sea is accompanied with roughly 15° clockwise rotation, while the SE sub-sea basin opened with SE extension. Tinjar fault was the western boundary of the Nansha block (Dangerous Ground), while Lupar fault was the eastern boundary of the Indochina, NW-trending rift belt known as Zengmu basin developed between above two faults due to block divergent of Indochina from Nansha. In the experiment, transtensional flower structures along NW-trending faults are seen, and slight inversion occurs along some NE-dipping faults. The existence of rigid massifs changed the orientations of some faults and rift belt, and also led to deformation concentrate around the massifs. | 2 | Effects of mixture ratio on anaerobic co-digestion with fruit and vegetable waste and food waste of China显示文摘The biochemical methane potentials for typical fruit and vegetable waste (FVW) and food waste (FW) from a northern China city were investigated,which were 0.30,0.56 m 3 CH 4/kgVS (volatile solids) with biodegradabilities of 59.3% and 83.6%,respectively.Individual anaerobic digestion testes of FVW and FW were conducted at the organic loading rate (OLR) of 3 kg VS/(m 3 ·day) using a lab-scale continuous stirred-tank reactor at 35℃.FVW could be digested stably with the biogas production rate of 2.17 m 3/(m 3 ·day) and methane production yield of 0.42 m 3 CH 4/kg VS.However,anaerobic digestion process for FW was failed due to acids accumulation.The effects of FVW:FW ratio on co-digestion stability and performance were further investigated at the same OLR.At FVW and FW mixing ratios of 2:1 and 1:1,the performance and operation of the digester were maintained stable,with no accumulation of volatile fatty acids (VFA) and ammonia.Changing the feed to a higher FW content in a ratio of FVW to FW 1:2,resulted in an increase in VFAs concentration to 1100-1200mg/L,and the methanogenesis was slightly inhibited.At the optimum mixture ratio 1:1 for co-digestion of FVW with FW,the methane production yield was 0.49 m 3 CH 4/kg VS,and the volatile solids and soluble chemical oxygen demand (sCOD) removal efficiencies were 74.9% and 96.1%,respectively. | Jia Lin Jiane Zuo Lili Gan Peng Li Fenglin Liu Kaijun Wang Lei Chen Hainan Gan | 2011 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,8: | 36 |
| 3 | Pollutant concentrations and pollution loads in stormwater runoff from different land uses in Chongqing显示文摘To investigate the distribution of pollutant concentrations and pollution loads in stormwater runoff in Chongqing,six typical land use types were selected and studied from August 2009 to September 2011.Statistical analysis on the distribution of pollutant concentrations in all water samples shows that pollutant concentrations fluctuate greatly in rainfall-runoff,and the concentrations of the same pollutant also vary greatly in different rainfall events.In addition,it indicates that the event mean concentrations (EMCs) of total suspended solids (TSS) and chemical oxygen demand (COD) from urban traffic roads (UTR) are significantly higher than those from residential roads (RR),commercial areas (CA),concrete roofs (CR),tile roofs (TRoof),and campus catchment areas (CCA);and the EMCs of total phosphorus (TP) and NH3-N from UTR and CA are 2.35-5 and 3 times of the class-III standard values specified in the Environmental Quality Standards for Surface Water (GB 3838-2002).The EMCs of Fe,Pb and Cd are also much higher than the class-III standard values.The analysis of pollution load producing coefficients (PLPC) reveals that the main pollution source of TSS,COD and TP is UTR.The analysis of correlations between rainfall factors and EMCs/PLPC indicates that rainfall duration is correlated with EMCs/PLPC of TSS for TRoof and TP for UTR,while rainfall intensity is correlated with EMCs/PLPC of TP for both CR and CCA.The results of this study provide a reference for better management of non-point source pollution in urban regions. | Shumin Wang Qiang He Hainan Ai Zhentao Wang Qianqian Zhang | 2013 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,3: | 33 |

| 5 | Phosphate removal and recovery through crystallization of hydroxyapatite using xonotlite as seed crystal显示文摘Xonotlite was synthesized and tested for phosphate removal and recovery from synthetic solution in a batch mode. The effects of pH, initial calcium concentration, bicarbonate concentration on phosphate removal through crystallization were examined. The morphology and X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern of xonotlite before and after crystallization confirmed the formation of crystalline hydroxyapatite. The results indicated that the crystallization product had a very high P content (> 10%), which is comparable to phosphate rock at the dosage of 50-200 mg xonotlite per liter, with a maximum P content of 16.7%. The kinetics of phosphate removal followed the second-order reaction equation. The phosphate removal ability increased with increasing pH. The precipitation of calcium phosphate took place when pH was higher than 7.2, whereas the crystallization occurred at pH 6.0. A high calcium concentration could promote the removal of phosphate via crystallization, while a high bicarbonate concentration also enhanced phosphate removal, through that the pH was increased and thus induced the precipitation process. When xonotlite was used to remove phosphate from wastewater, the removal effciency could reach 91.3% after 24 h reaction, with removal capacity 137 mg/g. | 6 | Changed clinical aspects of primary liver cancer in China during the past 30 years显示文摘BACKGROUND: Primary liver cancer (PLC) is one of the most frequently seen tumors in China. Thirty years ago, patients with PLC were often detected at relatively late stage, with a palpable mass or marked clinical symptoms and poor prognosis. In the past 30 years, the diagnosis and treatment of PLC have been greatly improved with better prognosis. METHODS: In order to study the changes of PLC during the 30 years, the clinical data of 3250 patients with PLC from 10 medical institutions of China were collected, ana- lyzed , and compared with those of 3254 PLC patients be- fore the 30 years. RESULTS: In the 3250 patients aged 1-80 years, with an average age of 49.1 years, the male to female ratio (2.3:1) was lower than that before the 30 years. 73.5% of the 3250 patients sought medical advice within 3 months after the onset of the disease in contrast to 63.8% before the 30 years. Compared with those patients before the 30 years the symptoms and signs were alleviated generally. The HBsAg positive rate was 81.0%, but the HCV-Ab positive rate was 13.2%. The AFP level in 75% of patients was elevated, but in the remaining 25% was normal. 1912 patients (58.8%) were confirmed pathologically. Among them 1755 patients (91.8%) had hepatocellular carcinoma. The overall resec- tion rate was 46.3%. Those who had early, middle, late stage carcinoma accounted for 29.9%, 51.5%, and 18.6%respectively in contrast to 0.4%, 47.0%, and 52.6% repor- ted before the 30 years. The 1-, 3-, 5-year survival rates of the patients were 66.1%, 39.7%, and 32.5% respectively, whereas 93.5%, 70.1%, and 59.1% for the early stage pa- tients, and 65.3%, 30.5%, and 23.5% for the middle stage patients. The half and 1-year survival rates of the late stage patients were 52.5%, and 14.7%, respectively. CONCLUSION: Comparison with the clinical data before and after the 30 years show that PLC can be diagnosed ear- ly. | 7 | Genome-wide Transcription Factor Gene Prediction and their Expressional Tissue-Specificities in Maize显示文摘Transcription factors (TFs) are important regulators of gene expression. To better understand TF-encoding genes in maize (Zea mays L.), a genome-wide TF prediction was performed using the updated B73 reference genome. A total of 2 298 TF genes were identified, which can be classified into 56 families. The largest family, known as the MYB superfamily, comprises 322 MYB and MYB-related TF genes. The expression patterns of 2014 (87.64%) TF genes were examined using RNA-seq data, which resulted in the identification of a subset of TFs that are specifically expressed in particular tissues (including root, shoot, leaf, ear, tassel and kernel). Similarly, 98 kernel-specific TF genes were further analyzed, and it was observed that 29 of the kernel-specific genes were preferentially expressed in the early kernel developmental stage, while 69 of the genes were expressed in the late kernel developmental stage. These metamorphosed mafic rocks are tholeiites in chemistry. They are characterized by extreme depletion of Th, Nb, Ta and LREEs, resembling the depleted N-type mid-ocean ridge basalts (MORE). Field relations suggest that the protolith of the metamorphosed mafic rocks were likely formed in Paleozoic. | 12 | A new sorbent that simultaneously sequesters multiple classes ofpollutants from water: Surfactant modified zeolite显示文摘A zeolite (ZFA) was synthesized from coal fly ash and then modified using hexadecyltrimethylammonium. The surfactant modified ZFA (SMZFA) was evaluated for its versatility to sequester multiple classes of pollutants from water. The target pollutants include ionic inorganic pollutants (ammonium and phosphate), ionic organic pollutants (methylene blue and humic acid), ionizable organic pollutants (bisphenol A,-chlorophenol and phenol, with different pKa), and electrically neutral or-ganic pollutants (aniline, nitrobenzene, and naphthalene, with different hydrophobicity). The SMZFA showed high potential for the retention of ammonium and phosphate, being comparable with ZFA. While the negative charge in the internal pores of zeolite was responsible for the retention of ammonium, the oxides of CaO, Al2O3and Fe2O3in the non-zeolite fraction, which originated from coal fly ash but received modification during zeolite synthesis, accounted for the removal of phosphate. Results also showed that while ZFA had little affinity for humic acid, the ionizable, and the electrically neutral organic compounds, SMZFA exhibited greatly enhanced adsorption capacity. Thus, the surfactant modified external surface, which formed a bilayer micelle of zeolite, imparts a hydrophobic characteristic that enables the uptake of the organic pollutants. | 13 | Redundant CAMTA Transcription Factors Negatively Regulate the Biosynthesis of Salicylic Acid and N-Hydroxypipecolic Acid by Modulating the Expression of SARD1 and CBP60g显示文摘Two signal molecules, salicylic acid (SA) and N-hydroxypipecolic acid (NHP), play critical roles in plant immunity. The biosynthetic genes of both compounds are positively regulated by master immune-regulating transcription factors SARD1 and CBP60g. However, the relationship between the SA and NHP pathways is unclear. CALMODULIN-BINDING TRANSCRIPTION FACTOR 1 (CAMTA1), CAMTA2, and CAMTA3 are known redundant negative regulators of plant immunity, but the underlying mechanism also remains largely unknown. In this study, through chromatin immunoprecipitation and electrophoretic mobility shift assays, we uncovered that CBP60g is a direct target of CAMTA3, which also negatively regulates the expression of SARD1, presumably via an indirect effect. The autoimmunity of camta3-1 is suppressed by sard1 cbp60g double mutant as well as ald1 and fmo1, two single mutants defective in NHP biosynthesis. Interestingly, a suppressor screen conducted in the camta1/ 2/ 3 triple mutant background yielded various mutants blocking biosynthesis or signaling of either SA or NHP, leading to nearly complete suppression of the extreme autoimmunity of camta1/ 2/ 3, suggesting that the SA and NHP pathways can mutually amplify each other. | 14 | Molecular modeling and spectroscopic studies on the binding of guaiacol to human immunoglobulin显示文摘The fluorogenic property of guaiacol was exploited for the first time to analyze the interaction with target protein as a probe by molecular modeling, fluorescence, circular dichroism (CD) and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. Molecular docking was performed to reveal the possible binding mode or mechanism and suggested that guaiacol can strongly bind to human immu- noglobulin (HIgG). It is considered that guaiacol binds to HIgG mainly by a hydrophobic interaction and there are two hydrogen bond interactions between the drug and the residues LEU 80 and ASP 65, which is in good agreement with the results from the experimental thermodynamic parameters (the enthalpy change △H0 and the entropy change △S0 were calculated to be 65.55 kJ·mol-1 and 132.95 J·mol-1·K-1 according to the Vant’ Hoff equation). Data obtained by the fluorescence spectroscopy indicated that binding of guaiacol with HIgG leads to dramatic enhancement in the fluorescence emission intensity along with significant occurrence of efficient Frster resonance energy transfer (FRET) from the residue of HIgG to the protein bound guaiacol. From the low value of fluorescence anisotropy (r = 0.06), it is argued that the probe molecule is located in the motionally unrestricted environment of the protein. | 18 | Behavior features of heavy metals in the Haikou Bay waters显示文摘Dissolved Cu, Ph, Zn and Cd in the Haikou Bay waters were measured to be respectively in the range concentrations of 0.47-1.16 μg/dm^3, 0. 94-- 2. 36μg/dm^3, 1.28-4.83 μg/dm^3 and 0. 005-0.072μg/dm^3; with respectively average values of 0.78μg/dm^3, 1.36μg/dm^3, 3.14 g/dm^3 and 0. 03 μg/dm^3. Dissolved Cu and Zn concentrations are relatively high at the stations near the Longkun Road Outfall for domestic sewage, the Xiuying Outfall for industry waste water and the Haidian Island Estuary, but dissolved Pb and Cd concentrations are low in these stations. The values in Other stations are comparatively homogenous. Vertical dissolved Cu, Pb and Zn concentrations at the bottom layer are higher than at the surface layer, but dissolved Cd concentration appears to be on the opposite. The measurement results of Cu, Pb, Zn and Cd in suspended particle show that particulate matters in the Haikou Bay seawater play a role in purifying heavy metals. The study on strong complexed form and non-liable form of dissolved copper show that the ratio of strong complexed form and dissolved form is about 85%, and non-liable form is very low with a value lower than 5 nmol/dm^3. U-Pb dating analyses of zircons from the anatectic granite and the biotite two-feldspar gneiss in the Baoban group, using SHRIMP II in the Beijing Ion-probe Center, acquire 206Pb/238U ages of 368±3.5 Ma (of granite, 95% confidence level, MSDW=1.23) and 362.9±6.1 Ma (of gneiss, 95% confidence level, MSDW = 2.04) respectively. The two late Devonian ages indicate consistently a tectonic- thermal event experienced in Hainan Island, and are the first discovered record of the Devonian geological process in the district. | 20 | The involvement of PybZIPa in light-induced anthocyanin accumulation via the activation of PyUFGT through binding to tandem G-boxes in its promoter显示文摘To gain insight into how anthocyanin biosynthesis is controlled by light in fruit,transcriptome and metabolome analyses were performed in the Chinese sand pear cultivar“Mantianhong”(Pyrus pyrifolia)after bagging and bag removal.We investigated transcriptional and metabolic changes and gene-metabolite correlation networks.Correlation tests of anthocyanin content and transcriptional changes revealed that 1,530 transcripts were strongly correlated with 15 anthocyanin derivatives(R2>0.9,P-value<0.05),with the top 130 transcripts categorized as being associated with flavonoid metabolism,transcriptional regulation,and light signaling.The connection network revealed a new photosensitive transcription factor,PybZIPa,that might play an important role during light-induced anthocyanin accumulation.The overexpression of PybZIPa promoted anthocyanin accumulation in pear and strawberry fruit as well as tobacco leaves.Dual luciferase and Y1H assays further verified that PybZIPa directly activated the expression of PyUFGT by binding to tandem G-box motifs in the promoter,which was key to differential anthocyanin accumulation in debagged pear skin,and the number of G-box motifs affected the transcriptional activation of PyUFGT by PybZIPa.The results indicate that the light-induced anthocyanin biosynthesis regulatory mechanism in pear differs from that described in previous reports suggesting that a bZIP family member co-regulates anthocyanin biosynthesis with other transcription factors in apple and Arabidopsis.It was found that,in response to light,PybZIPa promoted anthocyanin biosynthesis by regulating important transcription factors(PyMYB114,PyMYB10,and PyBBX22)as well as structural genes(PyUFGT)via binding to G-boxes within promoters.This activation was amplified by the self-binding of PybZIPa to activate its own promoter.Overall,we demonstrate the utility of a multiomics integrative approach for discovering new functional genes and pathways underlying light-induced anthocyanin biosynthesis. | Hainan Liu Jun Su Yangfan Zhu Gaifang Yao Andrew C.Allan Charles Ampomah-Dwamena Qun Shu Kui Lin-Wang Shaoling Zhang Jun Wu | 2019 | Horticulture Research2019,6,1: | 3 |
