| 2 | Nitrate regulates rhizobial and mycorrhizal symbiosis in common bean(Phaseolus vulgaris L.)显示文摘Nitrogen‐limited conditions are considered to be a prerequisite for legume‐rhizobial symbiosis, but the effects of nitrate‐rich conditions on symbiotic status remain poorly understood. We addressed this issue by examining rhizobial(Rhizobim tropici) and arbusclarmycorrhizal(Glomus intraradices) symbiosis in Phaseolus vulgaris L. cv. Negro Jamapa under nitrate pre‐incubation and continuous nitrate conditions. Our results indicate that nitrate pre‐incubation, independent of the concentration, did not affect nodule development. However, the continuous supply of nitrate at high concentrations impaired nodule maturation and nodule numbers. Low nitrate conditions, in addition to positively regulating nodule number, biomass, and nitrogenase activity, also extended the span of nitrogen‐fixing activity. By contrast, for arbuscular mycorrhizae, continuous 10 and 50mmol/L nitrate increased the percent root lengthcolonization, concomitantly reduced arbuscule size, and enhanced ammonia transport without affecting phosphate transport. | 3 | Ascorbic acid and prunasin,two candidate biomarkers for endodormancy release in almond flower buds identified by a nontargeted metabolomic study显示文摘Temperate fruit trees belonging to Prunus species have the ability to suspend(induce dormancy)and resume growth periodically in response to environmental and seasonal conditions.Endodormancy release requires the long-term accumulation of chill.Upon accumulation of cultivar-specific chill requirements,plants enter the state of ecodormancy,which means the ability to grow has been restored,depending on the fulfilment of heat requirements.As many different metabolic pathways are implicated in endodormancy release,we have performed a metabolomic analysis,using the ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography–quadrupole time-of-flying(UPLC–QToF)technique.We assayed flower buds in different stages of endodormancy in four almond cultivars with different flowering times:the extra-early Desmayo Largueta,the late Antoñeta,the extra-late Penta,and the ultra-late Tardona.An orthogonal projection to latent-structure discriminant-analysis model was created to observe differences between endodormant and ecodormant flower buds.The metabolites showing the most significant variation were searched against the Metlin,HMDB,and KEGG libraries,which allowed us to identify 87 metabolites.These metabolites were subsequently assigned to specific pathways,such as abscisic acid biosynthesis,phenylpropanoid biosynthesis,and D-sorbitol metabolism,among others.The two metabolites that exhibited the most significant variations in all the cultivars studied with fold changes of up to 6.49 were ascorbic acid and prunasin.For the first time,these two metabolites have been proposed as potential biomarkers for endodormancy release in almond.Given the high synteny present between the Rosaceae species,these results could be extrapolated to other important crops like peach,plum,cherry,or apricot,among others. | Jesús Guillamón Guillamón Ángela Sánchez Prudencio JoséEnrique Yuste Federico Dicenta Raquel Sánchez-Pérez | 2020 | Horticulture Research2020,7,1: | 2 |

| 17 | Influence of Livestock Soil Eutrophication on Floral Composition in the Pyrenees Mountains显示文摘Livestock behaviour in the Pyrenees includes free grazing and a long resting period that provokes the accumulation of dung and urine in some places,so-called camping areas. The aims of this study were (i) to analyze any change in floral composition,and in nutritional and chemical contents of plants in a livestock camping area; and (ii) to relate the floral composition with soil chemical properties. In a linear transect,five sampling zones were established,from the centre of the camping area to the surrounding Nardus stricta-dominant pasture. The above ground plant biomass and the topsoil were sampled in each zone with 6 replicates per zone. Plant species were classified and weighed to calculate above ground biomass,nutritional and chemical contents,and Shannon diversity and evenness indices. Additionally,soils were sampled in two periods,at the beginning and at the end of grazing period. Soil available nutrients (nitrate,ammonium,phosphorus,potassium,calcium and magnesium),total nitrogen,organic carbon and pH were measured. Plant chemical contents (protein,lignin and others) were significantly related to the proportions of grasses,legumes and other plants; so,the protein content is positively correlated with legumes plant biomass while lignin content is negatively correlated with grasses. Both plant and soil nutrients increased linearly towards the centre of the camping area. However,the relationship among plant species richness,diversity and evenness relative to its position along the studied transect was bell-shaped. From the outskirts to the centre of the camping area,plants with low nutrient demand were progressively replaced by those with medium and high nutrients demand and by pioneers. Nardus stricta-dominant pasture has low plant diversity and plant nutrient content as well as a poor soil nutrient availability. The presence of the camping area introduced patches with more soil nutrients and new species in the large spatial scale. However at a small spatial scale,the strong soil nutrient concentration into the centre of the camping area reduced floral composition again.
