3Application of Avaatech X-ray fluorescence core-scanning in Sr/Ca analysis of speleothems显示文摘Application of X-ray fluorescence core-scanning(XRF-CS) on both marine and lake sediments has achieved remarkable results. However, its application has not been widely extended to the research on speleothems. In this study, we measure the Sr abundance and the Sr/Ca ratios of three stalagmites(two aragonite stalagmites, one calcite stalagmite) using the state-of-the-art fourth-generation Avaatech high-resolution XRF core scanner. Through comparisons among different scan paths and among different scan resolutions, as well as comparisons with inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer(ICP-OES), Itrax XRF, and Artax XRF results, we confirm that the Avaatech XRF core scanner could precisely, quickly, and nondestructively analyze the high-resolution Sr abundance of speleothems. 4The influence of physiological environment on the targeting effect of aptamer-guided gold nanoparticles显示文摘Aptamer guided nano medicine shows great promise in targeted cancer therapies.However the loss of targeting capacity duri ng in vivo or clinical trials has largely hindered its popularity and there are no systematic studies to elucidate the causes.Herein,we investigated such loss of targeting capacity by examining how the physiological milieu affected targeting effect.Aptamer functionalized gold nanoparticle(AuNP)was chosen as the model and exposed to human blood serum that is used to mimic physiological milieu.Dynamic light scattering(DLS),flow cytometry and label-free liquid chromatography tan dem mass spectrometry(LC-MS/MS)were employed to determi ne variations of NPs'surface chemistry and biological identities changes after serum exposure.Results showed that the targeting ability loss was caused by protein corona blocking,replacement and enzymatic cleavage of surface aptamer targeting ligands.Noteworthy,the aggregation issue is critical for the smaller NPs.Analysis of the protein corona profile indicated the accumulation of immune-related proteins on the surface of aptamer-conjugated NPs,which could induce immune response,resulting in rapid clearanee of NPs.Ding Ding Yinling Zhang Edward A.Sykes Long Chen Zhuo Chen Weihong Tan 2019Nano Research2019,12,1:2
5COMPARISON OF HEAVY METAL CONCENTRATIONS IN SURFACE SEDIMENT OF TANJUNG PIAI WETLAND WITH OTHER SITES RECEIVING ANTHROPOGENIC INPUTS ALONG THE SOUTHWESTERN COAST OF PENINSULAR MALAYSIA显示文摘S:Tanjung Piai wetland has now been proclaimed to be a wetland of international importance since 2003. Therefore, its heavy metal pollution status should be known and recorded. In this study, sediments in Tanjung Piai wetland were collected in 2002 and 2005 and were analysed for Cd, Cu, Ni, Pb and Zn. For comparison purpose, sediments were also collected for metal analysis from a known polluted site at Kg. Pasir Puteh, four jetties and a river. A comparison with the polluted sediment collected from Kg. Pasir Puteh and the established Sediment Quality Criteria showed that Tanjung Piai was not polluted with Cd, Cu, Ni, Pb and Zn. These background concentrations or baseline data of heavy metals in the sediment is important for future reference.
