| 1 | The effect of hematoma puncture drainage before decompressive craniectomy on the prognosis of hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage with cerebral hernia at a high altitude显示文摘Purpose:Rapid decompressive craniectomy(DC)was the most effective method for the treatment of hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage(HICH)with cerebral hernia,but the mortality and disability rate is still high.We suspected that hematoma puncture drainage(PD)+DC may improve the therapeutic effect and thus compared the combined surgery with DC alone.Methods:From December 2013 to July 2019,patients with HICH from Linzhi,Tibet and Honghe,Yunnan Province were retrospectively analyzed.The selection criteria were as follows:(1)altitude≥1500 m;(2)HICH patients with cerebral hernia;(3)Glascow coma scale score of 4-8 and time from onset to admission≤3 h;(4)good liver and kidney function;and(5)complete case data.The included patients were divided into DC group and PD+DC group.The patients were followed up for 6 months.The outcome was assessed by Glasgow outcome scale(GOS)score,Kaplan-Meier survival curve and correlation between time from admission to operation and prognosis.A good outcome was defined as independent(GOS score,4-5)and poor outcome defined as dependent(GOS score,3-1).All data analyses were performed using SPSS 19,and comparison between two groups was conducted using separatet-tests or Chi-square tests.Results:A total of 65 patients was included.The age ranged 34-90 years(mean,63.00±14.04 years).Among them,31 patients had the operation of PD+DC,whereas 34 patients underwent DC.The two groups had no significant difference in the basic characteristics.After 6 months of follow-up,in the PD+DC group there were 8 death,4 vegetative state,4 severe disability(GOS score 1-3,poor outcome 51.6%);8 moderate disability,and 7 good recovery(GOS score 4-5,good outcome 48.4%);while in the DC group the result was 15 death,6 vegetative state,5 severe disability(poor outcome 76.5%),4 moderate disability and 4 good recovery(good outcome 23.5%).The GOS score and good outcome were significantly less in DC group than in PD+DC group(Z=-1.993,p=0.046;χ2=4.38,p=0.043).However,there was no significant difference regarding the survival curve between PD+DC group and DC group.The correlation between the time from admission to operation and GOS at 6 months(r=-0.41,R2=0.002,p=0.829)was not significant in the PD+DC group,but significant in the DC group(r=-0.357,R2=0.128,p=0.038).Conclusion:PD+DC treatment can improve the good outcomes better than DC treatment for HICH with cerebral hernia at a high altitude. | Lin-Jie Wei Chi Lin Xing-Sen Xue Guo-Dong Dun Jian-Bo Zhang Yan-Xiang Tong Jia-Xiong Wang Shi-Ji Yang Ling Wang Zhi Chen Hua Feng Gang Zhu | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Traumatology2021,24,6: | 11 |

| 4 | Dynamic expression of Slit1–3 and Robo1–2 in the mouse peripheral nervous system after injury显示文摘The Slit family of axon guidance cues act as repulsive molecules for precise axon pathfinding and neuronal migration during nervous system development through interactions with specific Robo receptors.Although we previously reported that Slit1–3 and their receptors Robo1 and Robo2 are highly expressed in the adult mouse peripheral nervous system,how this expression changes after injury has not been well studied.Herein,we constructed a peripheral nerve injury mouse model by transecting the right sciatic nerve.At 14 days after injury,quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction was used to detect mRNA expression of Slit1–3 and Robo1–2 in L4–5 spinal cord and dorsal root ganglia,as well as the sciatic nerve.Immunohistochemical analysis was performed to examine Slit1–3,Robo1–2,neurofilament heavy chain,F4/80,and vimentin in L4–5 spinal cord,L4 dorsal root ganglia,and the sciatic nerve.Co-expression of Slit1–3 and Robo1–2 in L4 dorsal root ganglia was detected by in situ hybridization.In addition,Slit1–3 and Robo1–2 protein expression in L4–5 spinal cord,L4 dorsal root ganglia,and sciatic nerve were detected by western blot assay.The results showed no significant changes of Slit1–3 or Robo1–2 mRNA expression in the spinal cord within 14 days after injury.In the dorsal root ganglion,Slit1–3 and Robo1–2 mRNA expression were initially downregulated within 4 days after injury;however,Robo1–2 mRNA expression returned to the control level,while Slit1–3 mRNA expression remained upregulated during regeneration from 4–14 days after injury.In the sciatic nerve,Slit1–3 and their receptors Robo1–2 were all expressed in the proximal nerve stump;however,Slit1,Slit2,and Robo2 were barely detectable in the nerve bridge and distal nerve stump within 14 days after injury.Slit3 was highly ex-pressed in macrophages surrounding the nerve bridge and slightly downregulated in the distal nerve stump within 14 days after injury.Robo1 was upregulated in vimentin-positive cells and migrating Schwann cells inside the nerve bridge.Robo1 was also upregulated in Schwann cells of the distal nerve stump within 14 days after injury.Our findings indicate that Slit3 is the major ligand expressed in the nerve bridge and distal nerve stump during peripheral nerve regeneration,and Slit3/Robo signaling could play a key role in peripheral nerve repair after injury.This study was approved by Plymouth University Animal Welfare Ethical Review Board (approval No.30/3203) on April 12,2014. | Bing Chen Lauren Carr Xin-Peng Dun | 2020 | Neural Regeneration Research2020,15,5: | 6 |
| 5 | PA1b, a plant peptide, induces intracellular [Ca^(2+)] in- crease via Ca^(2+) influx through the L-type Ca^(2+) channel and triggers secretion in pancreatic β cells显示文摘Using alginic acid to adsorb polypeptides at pH 2.7, we isolated a peptide pea albumin 1b (PA1b) from pea seeds. The PA1b is a single chain peptide consisting of 37 amino acid residues with 6 cysteines which constitutes the cystine-knot structure. Using microfluorometry and patch clamp techniques, we found that PA1b significantly elevated the intracellular calcium level ([Ca2+ ]i) and elicited membrane capacitance increase in the primary rat pancreatic β cells. The PA1b effect on [Ca2+]i elevation was abolished in the absence of extracellular Ca2+ or in the presence of L-type Ca2+ channel blocker, ni- modipine. Interestingly, we found that PA1b significantly depolarized membrane potential, which could lead to the opening of voltage-dependent L-type Ca2+ channels and influx of extracellular Ca2+, and then evoke robust secretion. | 7 | Effect of toll-like receptor 3 agonist poly I:C on intestinal mucosa and epithelial barrier function in mouse models of acute colitis显示文摘AIM To investigate potential effects of poly I:C on mucosal injury and epithelial barrier disruption in dextran sulfate sodium(DSS)-induced acute colitis.METHODS Thirty C57BL/6 mice were given either regular drinking water(control group) or 2%(w/v) DSS drinking water(model and poly I:C groups) ad libitum for 7 d. Poly I:C was administrated subcutaneously (20 μg/mouse) 2 h prior to DSS induction in mice of the poly I:C group. Severity of colitis was evaluated by disease activity index, body weight, colon length, histology and myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity, as well as the production of proinflammatory cytokines, including tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), interleukin 17(IL-17) and interferon-γ (IFN-γ). Intestinal permeability was analyzed by the fluorescein isothiocyanate labeleddextran (FITC-D) method. Ultrastructural features of the colon tissue were observed under electron microscopy. Expressions of tight junction(TJ) proteins, including zo-1, occludin and claudin-1, were measured by immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence, Western blot and real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction(RT-qPCR).RESULTS DSS caused significant damage to the colon tissue in the model group. Administration of poly I:C dramatically protected against DSS-induced colitis, as demonstrated by less body weight loss, lower disease activity index score, longer colon length, colonic MPO activity, and improved macroscopic and histological scores. It also ameliorated DSS-induced ultrastructural changes of the colon epithelium, as observed under scanning electron microscopy, as well as FITC-D permeability. The m RNA and protein expressions of TJ protein, zo-1, occludin and claudin-1 were also found to be significantly enhanced in the poly I:C group, as determined by immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence, Western blot and RT-q PCR. | 10 | Mitochondrial DNA T7719G in tRNA-Lys gene affects litter size in Small-tailed Han sheep显示文摘Background: In farm animals, mitochondrial DNA(mtDNA) effect on economic performance remains hot-topic for breeding and genetic selection. Here, 53 maternal lineages of Small-tailed Han sheep were used to investigate the association of mitochondrial DNA variations and the lambing litter size.Results: Sequence sweeping of the mitochondrial coding regions discovered 31 non-synonymous mutations, and the association study revealed that T7719G in mt DNA t RNA-Lys gene was associated with litter size(P < 0.05),manifesting 0.29 lambs per litter between the G and T carriers. Furthermore, using the mixed linear model, we assayed the potential association of the ovine litter size and haplogroups and multiple-level mtDNA haplotypes,including general haplotypes, assembled haplotypes of electron transport chain contained sequences(H-ETC),mitochondrial respiratory complex contained sequences(H-MRC) and mitochondrial genes(H-gene, including polypeptide-coding genes, rRNA genes and tRNA genes). The strategy for assembled mitochondrial haplotypes was proposed for the first time in mtDNA association analyses on economic traits, although none of the significant relations could be concluded(P > 0.05). | 14 | Estimating Seismic Intensity Maps of the 2021 Mw 7.3 Madoi,Qinghai and Mw 6.1 Yangbi,Yunnan,China Earthquakes显示文摘This study focuses on rapidly determining seismic intensity maps of earthquakes because it offers fundamental information for effective emergency rescue and subsequent scientific research,and remains challenging to accurately determine seismic intensity map in regions with sparse instrumental observations.Here we applied a novel method that consisted of array technology(backprojection),ground-motion prediction equations,and site corrections,to estimate the seismic intensity maps of the 2021 Mw 7.3 Madoi,Qinghai and the Mw 6.1 Yangbi,Yunnan,China earthquakes.We used seismic data recorded at European stations to back-project the source processes of the 2021 Mw7.3 Madoi,Qinghai and the Mw 6.1 Yangbi,Yunnan,China earthquakes.The back-projected energy radiations were then used as subevents or used to define the fault geometry.Summing the contributions of each subevent or estimating the shortest distances from each site to the rupture fault,we obtained the ground motion(PGA and PGV)for each site under rock site conditions.The estimated ground motions were corrected at each site for local site amplification according to the Vs30 database.Our estimated seismic intensity maps and field reports showed high similarity,which further validated the effectiveness of the novel approach,and pushed the limit of earthquake size down to~M 6.Such efforts would substantially help in the fast and accurate evaluation of earthquake damage,and precise rescue efforts. | Wenkai Chen Dun Wang Can Zhang Qiang Yao Hongjun Si | 2022 | Journal of Earth Science2022,33,4: | 2 |

| 16 | Three Super Active Regions in the Descending Phase of Solar Cycle 23显示文摘We analyze the magnetic configurations of three super active regions,NOAA 10484, 10486 and 10488, observed by the Huairou Multi-Channel Solar Telescope (MCST) from 2003 October 18 to November 4. Many energetic phenomena,such as flares (including a X-28 flare) and coronal mass ejections (CMEs), occurred during this period. We think that strong shear and fast emergence of magnetic flux are the main causes of these events. | 17 | Effect of Plasticizers on Properties of Rice Straw Fiber Film显示文摘In order to improve the properties of rice straw fiber film, one factor contrast test method was employed. Plasticizer type was chosen as input variable, dry tension strength and elongation, wet tension strength and elongation, bursting strength and tearing strength were chosen as indexes. The results showed that there were significant differences among the means of dry tension strength, dry elongation and bursting strength of different plasticizers; there were not significant differences among the means of wet tension strength, wet elongation and tearing strength of different plasticizers; for dry tension strength and elongation, glycerol had a significant difference with sorbitol and PEG, no significant difference was observed between sorbitol and PEG, dry tension strength added glycerol had been reduced 6.8% compared with that added sorbitol, reduced 9.5% compared with that added PEG; elongation had been improved 6.1% and 9.4%, respectively; for bursting strength, sorbitol had a significant difference with glycerol and PEG, no significant difference was observed between glycerol and PEG; bursting strength added glycerol and added PEG had been improved 6.9% and 5.6%, respectively compared with that of the added sorbitol. | 18 | Tailoring spin mixtures by ion-enhanced Maxwell magnetic coupling in colortunable organic electroluminescent devices显示文摘In this work,we show that the spin dynamics of excitons can be dramatically altered by Maxwell magnetic field coupling,together with an ion-enhanced,low-internal-splitting-energy organic semiconducting emitter.By employing a unique,alternating current(AC)-driven organic electroluminescent(OEL)device architecture that optimizes this magnetic field coupling,almost complete control over the singlet-to-triplet ratio(from fluorescent to phosphorescent emission in a single device)is realized.We attribute this spin population control to magnetically sensitive polaron–spin pair intersystem crossings(ISCs)that can be directly manipulated through external driving conditions.As an illustration of the utility of this approach to spin-tailoring,we demonstrate a simple hybrid(double-layer)fluorescence–phosphorescence(F–P)device using a polyfluorene-based emitter with a strong external Zeeman effect and ion-induced long carrier diffusion.Remarkable control over de-excitation pathways is achieved by controlling the device-driving frequency,resulting in complete emission blue–red color tunability.Picosecond photoluminescence(PL)spectroscopy directly confirms that this color control derives from the magnetic manipulation of the singlet-totriplet ratios.These results may pave the way to far more exotic organic devices with magnetic-field-coupled organic systems that are poised to usher in an era of dynamic spintronics at room temperature. | Junwei Xu Yue Cui Gregory M.Smith Peiyun Li Chaochao Dun Linqi Shao Yang Guo Hongzhi Wang Yonghua Chen David L.Carroll | 2018 | Light(Science & Applications)2018,7,1: | 2 |
