2Primary Sn-rich titianite in the Qitianling granite, Hunan Province, southern China: An important type of tin-bearing mineral and its implications for tin exploration显示文摘The Qitianling calc-alkaline granite in Hunan Province (South China) has attracted much attention since the discovery of the Furong super-large tin deposit. The present study provides new mineralogical data to address their implications for exploration of tin deposits. In the Taoxiwo granite in the southeastern part of the Qitianling granite body, Sn-rich titanite was identified as an important type of Sn-bearing mineral. The titanite commonly occurs with biotite as euhedral crystals, exhibiting typical envelope-like shape and sector-zoning texture. These indicate that the titanite most likely crystallized in the mag-matic stage. Electron-microprobe analyses show that the titanite is enriched in tin up to 1.12 wt% SnO2, with an average of 0.43 wt%. With the crystallization of the granite, primary minerals undertook hydro-thermal alteration by magma-derived fluids. Subsequently, in the hydrothermal stage, the primary Sn-bearing titanite was altered (at least partially), but still preserved its typical envelope-shaped outline. Micro-scale cassiterite is a representative product of such alteration; other secondary minerals include fluorite, ilmenite, Sn-bearing rutile and quartz. Therefore, the titanite, commonly present in the calc- alkaline granites, can be treated as an important Sn-carrying mineral in the Qitianling granite, reflecting the primary magmatic environment with tin enrichment. The hydrothermal alteration of the primary titanite and subsequent crystallization of cassiterite recorded a process of leaching and accumulation of tin in magmatic-hydrothermal evolution of the Snbearing granite. 3Characteristics of Volcanic Rocks in the Shoshonite Province, Eastern China, and Their Metallogenesis显示文摘The shoshonite province in eastern China is characterized by extensive distribution (ca. 80000 km2) of Late Jurassic-Early Cretaceous (165-100 Ma) shoshonite series with subordinate high-K calc-alkali series. It was formed in a dominantly tensile stress field. 4The thermal history of the miarolitic granite at Xincun, Fujian Province, China显示文摘The thermal history of the late Mesozoic miarolitic granite has been studied based on zircon U-Pb dating, whole rock Rb-Sr dating and K-Ar dating of muscovite, biotite and K-feldspar from the same rock sample. From the beginning of zircon crystallization to the closure of K-Ar system of biotite, the granite body had a slow cooling rate (11.0℃/Ma) and an ascending rate (0.07 mm/a). From the end of this stage to the closure of K-Ar system of K-feldspar, the granite body increased its cooling rate (45℃/Ma) and ascending rate (0.36 mm/a). The thermal history of the Xincun granite with a slow cooling rate at the early stage and a fast cooling rate at the late stage may have been related to the fact that the Fujian coastal area had very high geothermal gradient in the late Mesozoic and evident decrease in geothermal gradient in the early Cenozoic.SHEN Weizhou LING Hongfei LI Huimin LI Wuxian WANG Dezi 2000Chinese Science Bulletin2000,45,21:9
5Differentiation and accumulation of fluids in A-type granites: Evidence from accessory mineral study显示文摘The Laoshan A-type granite is a highly evolved granite body. The study on accessoryminerals indicates that there exist differentiation and accumulation of fluids during the late stage of evolution of the granite. The released fluids are rich in rare-earth elements (REE), high-field-strength elements (HFSE, such as Nb, Ta, Zr, Hf, Th, U, and Y) and volatiles (F, P, CO2, etc.). Owing to the presence of fluid, accessory mineral assemblages have changed during the evolution of A-type granite, and are especially characterized by large amounts of independent REE-Nb-Y-Th minerals present in the late facies. 6Yttrium zoning in garnet from the Xihuashan granitic complex and its petrological implications显示文摘The Xihuashan granitic complex is characterized by enrichment in rare-earth elements (REE). In particular, the second-stage granite (G-b) is markedly enriched in yttrium, and therefore contains complex associations of Y-bearing minerals. In this granite, garnet displays specific yttrium zoning with an Y-rich core and a 揷lean?rim. Besides minute inclusions of Y-bearing minerals, garnet involves a striking amount of Y and HREE in its central area. It is suggested that enrichment in Y in the garnet core accords with that in the melt as a result of REE magmatic fractionation. 7Isotope Geochemical Characteristics and Material Sources of Tin--Bearing Porphyries in South China显示文摘Tin-bearing porphyries in South China can be divided into the F-rich and F-poorsubtypes. They are high-silica (SiO2>71%), peraluminous (A/NKC>1.0) and rich inincompatible elements (Rb, Zr, U, W, Sn) and have weak Ce (δCe=0.68-0.82) and strong Eu(δEu=0.01-0.38) negative anomalies. Meantime, they also have low δNd(-6.3- -8.4), high207Pb/204Pb (15.588-15.790), medium to high (87Sr/86Sr)i (0.7084-0.7287) and relatively highδ18O(9.1-10.3‰). These characteristics clearly suggest that the two subtypes of tin-bearingporphyries were derived from the crustal materials. Their differences lie only in the existence ofcertain different components in their source materials.
