Property and provenance study of fancy celadon samples excavated from the Noble Burials of the Yue State at Hongshan, China显示文摘The Noble Burials of the Yue State at Hongshan in Wuxi City with many fancy burial objects were excavated by Archaeology Institute of Jiangsu Province and Xishan District Committee for Administration of Cultural Relics of China. It was appraised as one of the ten major archaeological excavations in 2004. Some precious ceramic samples excavated from this site are very important for studying the development history of Chinese ceramics, especially for studying the origin of porcelain. With the cooperation of Archaeology Institute of Nanjing Museum, the ceramic samples excavated from the Noble Burials of the Yue State at Hongshan were collected and systematically analyzed. Compared with the celadon samples produced in Yue-kiln site during later Eastern Han Dynasty (25–220 A.D.), some important topics such as the provenance and properties of the ceramic samples excavated from the Noble Burials of the Yue State at Hongshan were deeply studied. | WU Juan1, WU JunMing1 , LI QiJiang1, ZHANG MaoLin1, LI JiaZhi2, LU XiaoKe2 & DENG ZeQun2 1 Jingdezhen Ceramics Institute, Jingdezhen 333001, China 2 Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai 200050, China | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,2: | 7
Improvement of water resistance of long afterglow SrAl_2O_4: Dy, Eu phosphor by coating with SiO_2 film显示文摘The long afterglow SrAl2O4:Dy,Eu phosphor is liable to hydrolyze in water with deterioration of the luminescent property. SrAl2O4:Dy,Eu phosphors were therefore heated at 60-90℃ in TEOS sol to form a surface gel and then heat-treated at 400℃ to obtain SiO2 coated phosphors. Observation by Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) shows that a thin silica film forms on the surface of the phosphors. The coating procedure can be illustrated by a four-step process and the transparent silica film can suppress the hydrolysis process, so that the luminescent properties of the phosphors are unimpaired or even better. | ZHANG Junying, CHEN Qingming, LIN Yuanhua, and ZHANG ZhongtaiState Key Laboratory of New Ceramics and Fine Processing, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Tsinghua University,Beijing 100084, China | 2002 | Rare Metals2002,21,2: | 7
Synthesis of Nanoscale Shell-core Titania Coated Silica Particles in the Presence of Polyether Polyamine and the Phase Transition显示文摘The nanoscale titania coated silica was prepared via a two-step precipitating approach, where the nanoscale silica nuclei were first prepared by passing an aqueous solution of sodium silicate through an ion-exchange resin bed, then coated with the precipitation from hydrolyzed butyl titanate in an ethanol-hexane mixture at a low pH value in the presence of poly(ethylene oxide) polyamine salt(PPA) at a high temperature of 90 ℃. In the second-step precipitating process, the spontaneously precipitated titania shell on the silica nuclei was stabilized in the suspension solution with the help of the adsorption of PPA on the particles. A possible precipitating mechanism was suggested. Furthermore, the amorphous titania shell could undergo crystallization from the amorphous to the anatase structure at a high temperature of 650 ℃, and a further phase transition from the anatase to the rutile structure in the different sintering processes at a rising temperature of 750 ℃. | HUA Feng-jun 1, SUN Jun 2, HONG Ke 2, GAO Lian 1 and YANG Yu-liang 1** 1. | 7 | Numerical study on optical and electric-thermal performance for solar concentrating PV/T air system显示文摘Hybrid photovoltaic/thermal(PV/T)system with solar concentrator is an effective way to improve solar energy conversion efficiency. In this work,a single-pass PV/T air system with a three-trough compound parabolic concentrator(CPC)of concentration ratio 2.0 is designed and the solar incident distributions at the solar cell surface are calculated by ray tracing method.Based on energy balance, the heat transfer models of all main components in this system are developed. The effects of some main designing and operational parameters on the electric-thermal performance of the system are analyzed. The results show that the solar radiation intensity can be higher than 1200 W/m 2 at most area of the cell surface. The temperature of the air and cell surface increases along the length of the system. Thus the system efficiency of the CPC is higher than that of the system without the CPC.The thermal efficiency, exergy and electrical efficiency of this CPC system increase with increasing of the air mass flow rate and the length of the system. With increasing packing fraction the electrical efficiency increases, but the thermal efficiency decreases. The exergy efficiency increases slightly with the packing fraction rising. The data obtained in this work are valuable for the design and operation for this kind of solar concentrating PV/T systems. | SUN Jian 1,2 &SHI MingHeng 1 1School of Energy and Environment,Southeast University,Nanjing 210096,China 2Department of Thermal Energy Engineering,Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute,Jingdezhen 333001,China | 2009 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2009,52,12: | 5
A novel synthetic route for LiFePO_4/C cathode materials by addition of starch for lithium-ion batteries显示文摘LiFePO4/Carbon composite cathode material was prepared using starch as carbon source by spray-pelleting and subsequent pyrolysis in N2. The samples were characterized by XRD, SEM, Raman, and their electrochemical performance was investigated in terms of cycling behavior. There has a special micro-morphology via the process, which is favorable to electrochemical properties. The discharge capacity of the LiFePO4.C composite was 170 mAh g-1, equal to the theoretical specific capacity at 0.1 C rate. At 4 C current density, the specific capacity was about 80 mAh g-1, which can satisfy for transportation applications if having a more flat discharge flat. | Shao Hua Luo, Zi Long Tang, Jun Biao Lu, Zhong Tai Zhang State Key Laboratory of New Ceramics and Fine Processing, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Tsinghua University, Beijing 100084, China Graduate School at Shenzhen, Tsinghua University, Shenzhen 518055, China | 2007 | Chinese Chemical Letters2007,18,2: | 5

Microstructures and characteristics of deep trap levels in ZnO varistors doped with Y_2O_3显示文摘In this paper discussions on ZnO based varistor ceramics doped with different ratios of Y2O3 are presented.Analysis on the phase and microstructures of the samples indicates that an additional phase is detected in the samples doped with Y2O3,and the average grain size of the specimens decreases from about 9.2μm to 4.5μm,with an increase in the addition of Y2O3 from 0 mol%to 3 mol%.The corresponding varistor’s voltage gradient markedly increases from 462 V/mm to 2340 V/mm,while the nonlinear coefficient decreases from 22.3 to 11.5,respectively.Furthermore,the characteristics of deep trap levels in these ZnO samples are investigated by measuring their dielectric spectroscopies. The trap energy level and capture cross section evaluated by relaxation peak of the Cole-Cole plot vary slightly as the addition of Y2O3 increases. These traps may be ascribed to the intrinsic defects of ZnO lattice. | LIU Jun 1 ,HU Jun 1 ,HE JinLiang 1 ,LIN YuanHua 2 &LONG WangCheng 1 1State Key Laboratory of Power Systems,Department of Electrical Engineering,Tsinghua University,Beijing 100084,China 2State Key Laboratory of New Ceramics and Fine Processing,Department of Material Science and Engineering,Tsinghua University, Beijing 100084,China | 2009 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2009,52,12: | 5

In situ synthesis and phase analysis of low density O'-sialon-based multiphase ceramics显示文摘In situ formed low density O'-sialon-based multiphase ceramics were prepared by liquid-phase sintering method at 1400°C with Si3N4, SiO2 and Al2O3 as raw materials.Crystalline phases were identified by X-ray diffraction(XRD).The quantitative phase analysis was finished by matrix-flushing method and the substitution parameter x value of O'-sialon was estimated. The effects of sintering additives on the phase composition of the material were studied. The results show that, when using Y2O3 alone, Al6Si2O13 phase can be formed in the material, but when using Y2O3 and MgO, MgAl2O4 phase can be preferentially formed and the Al6Si2O13 is not observed. The mechanical properties of the material were measured and the relationships between microstructure and mechanical properties were discussed. The sample with Y2O3 and MgO sintering additives, using fused quartz alone as SiO2 source, displays a combination of high bending strength(163 MPa) and good fracture toughness(3.11 MPa·m1/2).Bending strength and fracture toughness of the samples increase with the increase of the content and aspect ratio of elongated grains and decrease with the increase of the porosity. | XU Xiongwen, LIANG Hui, LI Xiaolei, JI Huiming, LU Huixiang, and WAN Yizao Key Laboratory for Advanced Ceramics and Machining Technology(Ministry of Education), Tianjin University, Tianjin 300072, China | 2010 | Rare Metals2010,29,2: | 3

Dominant point detecting based non-uniform B-spline approximation for grain contour显示文摘Three-dimension reconstruction from serial sections has been used in the last decade to obtain information concerning three-dimensional microstructural ge-ometry. One of the crucial steps of three-dimension reconstruction is getting compact and fairing grain contours. Based on the achievement of closed raw con-tours of ceramic composite grains by using wavelet and level set, an adaptive method is adopted for the polygonal approximation of the digitized raw contours. Instead of setting a fixed length of support region in advance, the novel method computes the suitable length of support region for each point to find the best es-timated curvature. The dominant points are identified as the points with local maximum estimated curvatures. Periodic closed B-spline approximation is used to find the most compact B-spline grain boundary contours within the given tolerance. A flexible distance selection approach is adopted to obtain the common knot vector of serial contours consisting of less knots that contain enough degrees of freedom to guarantee the existence of a B-spline curve interpolating each contour. Finally, a B-spline surface interpolating the serial contours is generated via B-spline surface skinning. | ZHAO XiuYang1, YIN YanSheng1,2 & YANG Bo3 1 Shandong Key Laboratory of Engineering Ceramics, Shandong University, Jinan 250061, China 2 School of Materials, Ocean University of China, Qingdao 266003, China 3 State Key Laboratory of Advanced Technology for Materials Synthesis and Processing, Wuhan University of Science and Technology, Wuhan 430070, China | 2007 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2007,50,1: | 3
SiC fiber with low electrical resistivity and oxygen content显示文摘A new SiC fiber was prepared by the pyrolysis of polycarbosilane(PCS) fiber cured with unsaturated hydrocarbons. The fiber, with oxygen content of 4-6 wt%,offers high tensile strength of 2.5-2.8 GPa.The electrical resistivity of the fiber is only about 0.5 Ω·cm,much lower than general SiC fiber obtained from traditional air curing process.Degradation of mechanical property in argon and air at high temperature is retarded by 200-300℃ with respect to the Nicalon NL-202 fiber. The low electrical resistivity of the fiber exhibits excellent thermal stability,it almost remains 0.4-0.8 Ω·cm after thermal exposure test from the room temperature to 1600℃ in argon. The low electrical resistivity mainly attribute to an excess carbon layer which is about 50 nm in the circular outer part. | WANG DeYin,MAO XianHe,SONG YongCai & WANG YingDe State Key Lab of Novel Ceramic Fibers and Composites,National University of Defense Technology,Changsha 410073,China | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,4: | 3

Fabrication of W/Cu and Mo/Cu FGM as Plasma-facing Materials显示文摘W/Cu Functionally Graded Materials (FGM) was designed not only for reducing the thermal stress caused by the mismatch of thermal expansion coefficients, but also for combining the features of W, Mo - high plasma-erosion resistance and the advantages of Cu - high heat conductivity and ductility. Four different fabrication processes for W/Cu or Mo/Cu, including hot-pressing, Cu infiltration of sintered porosity-graded W skeleton, spark plasma sintering and plasma spraying, were investigated and compared. It was foundthat the hot-pressing process is difficult to keep the designed composition gradient, while the other three processes are successful in making W/Cu or Mo/Cu FGM. Meanwhile, microstructures and composition gradients are analyzed with SEM and EDAX. | Changchun Ge Zhangjian Zhou Jiangtao Li Xiang Liu Zhengyu Xu(Laboratory of Special Ceramics and Powder Metallurgy, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Beijing 100083, China)(Southwest Institute of Nuclear Physics, Chengdu 610041, China) | 2000 | International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2000,14,2: | 2
Fabrication and Microstructure of W/Cu Functionally Graded Material显示文摘W/Cu functionally gradient material (FGM) has excellent mechanical properties since it can effectively relax interlayer thermal stresses caused by the mismatch between their thermal expansion coefficients. W/Cu FGM combines the advantages of tungsten such as high melting point and service strength, with heat conductivity and plasticity of copper at room temperature. Thus it demonstrates satisfactory heat corrosion and thermal shock resistance and will be a promising candidate as divertor component in thermonuclear de-vice. Owing to the dramatic difference of melting point between tungsten and copper, conventional processes meet great difficulties in fabricating this kind of FGMs. A new approach termed graded sintering under ultra-high pressure (GSUHP) is proposed, with which a near 96% relative density of WICu FGM that contains a full distribution spectrum (0-100%W) has been successfully fabricated. Suitable amount of transition metals (such as nickel, zirconium, vanadium) is employed as additives to activate tungsten’s sintering, enhance phase wettability and bonding strength between W and Cu. Densification effects of different layer of FGM were investigated. Microstructure morphology and interface elements distribution were observed and analyzed. The thermal shock performance of W/Cu FGM was also preliminarily tested. | Yunhan Ling, Jiangtao Li, Zhangjian Zhou, Changchun Ge Laboratory of Special Ceramics & Powder Metallurgy, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Beijing 100083, China | 2001 | Journal of University of Science and Technology Beijing2001,8,3: | 2
Removal Behaviors of Different SiC Ceramics during Polishing显示文摘Comparative experiments were conducted to reveal the removal behaviors of three kinds of silicon carbide (SiC) ceramics during polishing and the effects of ceramic microstructure on the surface quality were also reported. Experimental results show that the second phase in SiC ceramics plays an important role in the surface quality when its size is large enough. The surface quality is enslaved to the formation of steps at interfaces between second phase and SiC matrix that results from different elastic modulus and hardness between two phases. Under 3 μm abrasive grains polishing condition, different SiC ceramics show different removal mechanisms. With decreasing abrasive grain size, all of different SiC ceramics exhibit a ductile removal mode, which decreases surface roughness efficiently. | Guiling Liu, Zhengren Huang , Xuejian Liu and Dongliang Jiang Structural Ceramics Center, Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai 200050, China | 2010 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2010,26,2: | 2
