1Platelet-rich plasma increases transforming growth factor-beta1 expression at graft-host interface following autologous osteochondral transplantation in a rabbit model显示文摘AIM: To explore the effect of platelet-rich plasma on protein expression patterns of transforming growth factor-beta1(TGF-β1) in cartilage following autologous osteochondral transplantation(AOT) in a rabbit knee cartilage defect model.METHODS: Twelve New Zealand white rabbits received bilateral AOT. In each rabbit, one knee was randomized to receive an autologous platelet rich plasma(PRP) injection and the contralateral knee received saline injection. Rabbits were euthanized at 3, 6 and 12 wk post-operatively. Articular cartilage sections were stained with TGF-β1 antibody. Histological regions of interest(ROI)(left, right and center of the autologous grafts interfaces) were evaluated using Meta Morph. Percentage of chondrocytes positive for TGF-β1 was then assessed.RESULTS: Percentage of chondrocytes positive for TGF-β1 was higher in PRP treated knees for selected ROIs(left; P = 0.03, center; P = 0.05) compared to control and was also higher in the PRP group at each post-operative time point(P = 6.6 × 10^(-4), 3.1 × 10^(-4) and 7.3 × 10^(-3) for 3, 6 and 12 wk, respectively). TGF-β1 expression was higher in chondrocytes of PRP-treated knees(36% ± 29% vs 15% ± 18%)(P = 1.8 × 10^(-6)) overall for each post-operative time point and ROI. CONCLUSION: Articular cartilage of rabbits treated with AOT and PRP exhibit increased TGF-β1 expression compared to those treated with AOT and saline. 2Is onchocerciasis elimination in Africa feasible by 2025:a perspective based on lessons learnt from the African control programmes显示文摘Background:Onchocerciasis is found predominantly in Africa where large scale vector control started in 1974.Registration and donation of ivermectin by Merck&Co in 1987 enabled mass treatment with ivermectin in all endemic countries in Africa and the Americas.Although elimination of onchocerciasis with ivermectin was considered feasible only in the Americas,recently it has been shown possible in Africa too,necessitating fundamental changes in technical and operational approaches and procedures.Main body:The American programme(OEPA)operating in onchocerciasis epidemiological settings similar to the mild end of the complex epidemiology of onchocerciasis in Africa,has succeeded in eliminating onchocerciasis from 4 of its 6 endemic countries.This was achieved through biannual mass treatment with ivermectin of 85%of the eligible population,and monitoring and evaluation using serological tests in children and entomological tests.The first African programme(OCP)had a head start of nearly two decades.It employed vector control and accumulated lots of knowledge on the dynamics of onchocerciasis elimination over a wide range of epidemiological settings in the vast expanse of its core area.OCP made extensive use of modelling and operationalised elimination indicators for entomological evaluation and epidemiological evaluation using skin snip procedures.The successor African programme(APOC)employed mainly ivermectin treatment.Initially its objective was to control onchocerciasis as a public health problem but that objective was later expanded to include the elimination of onchocerciasis where feasible.Building on the experience with onchocerciasis elimination of the OCP,APOC has leveraged OCP’s vast modelling experience and has developed operational procedures and indicators for evaluating progress towards elimination and stopping ivermectin mass treatment of onchocerciasis in the complex African setting.Conclusions:Following the closure of APOC in 2015,implementation of onchocerciasis elimination in Africa appears to overlook all the experience that has been accumulated by the African programmes.It is employing predominantly American processes that were developed in a dissimilar setting from the complex African onchocerciasis setting.This is impeding progress towards decisions to stop intervention in many areas that have reached the elimination point.This article summarizes lessons learned in Africa and their importance for achieving elimination in Africa by 2025.Yankum Dadzie Uche V.Amazigo Boakye A.Boatin Azodoga Seketeli 2018Infectious Diseases of Poverty2018,7,1:3
3儿童急性过伸性脊髓损伤的回顾性研究显示文摘目的回顾分析儿童急性过伸性脊髓损伤的临床特点和预后情况。方法纳入2010年9月至2020年9月间在武汉协和医院、武汉儿童医院收治的因持续或反复过伸脊柱后儿童脊髓损伤病例资料,根据美国脊髓损伤协会残损等级(American Spinal Injury Association impairment scale,AIS)标准,将患者分为完全性脊髓损伤组和不完全性脊髓损伤组,回顾分析两组脊髓损伤病例的年龄、损伤后症状及演变、神经损伤情况、影像学资料、实验室检查资料、预后及并发症等数据,总结这一类型疾病的特征。结果共有44例儿童发生儿童过伸性脊髓损伤,年龄分布在3~10岁,95%的患儿<8岁且为女童。完全性脊髓损伤组与不完全脊髓损伤组患儿的发病年龄、舞蹈训练时间等差异无统计学意义。发病特征为持续或者反复过伸脊柱过程中出现腰腿疼痛、下肢无力或感觉异常,随后短时间内症状进行性加重至截瘫。相关血液、脑脊液常规及生化检查未见明显异常。全脊柱无骨折及脱位,MR检查显示胸腰段脊髓髓内弥漫性水肿高信号影。完全性脊髓损伤患儿占比达60%,预后差,后期脊髓萎缩,并发症多。结论10岁以下的儿童在反复过伸脊柱后可发生急性过伸性脊髓损伤;完全性损伤患儿预后差,并发症多,因此预防这一类型的损伤最为重要。王玉龙 曾练 朱丰照 黄桂雄 高清 万意州 Jamal Alshorman Tracy Boakye Serebour 曲延镇 王思 沈先涛 吴子祥 杨炼 邵增务 郭晓东 2022中华骨科杂志2022,42,8:3
4Nitrogen-doped Porous Carbon Derived from Surface-attached Polymer Layers for Oxygen Reduction Reaction under Acidic Conditions显示文摘We reported the synthesis of nitrogen-doped carbon using surface-attached polyelectrolyte layers as precursors. The synthesized material has a large surface area of 800 m^2·g^(-1) with uniformed pore distribution. Benefitfed from the high pyridinic nitrogen content, the synthesized nitrogen-doped porous carbon material exhibits promising electrocatalytic activity toward oxygen reduction reactions in acidic medium and very high stability against continuous cyclic voltammetry scans.
