| 3 | Catalytic oxidation of soot particulates over MnO_x-CeO_2 oxides prepared by complexation-combustion method显示文摘MnOx-CeO2 oxides prepared by complexation-combustion method were used for soot oxidation. The highest conversion rate of soot was obtained on a MnOx-CeO2 oxide prepared under mild acid condition of pH = 4, where the oxidation temperature corresponding to maximum activity was decreased more than 150℃ compared with that of un-catalytic soot oxidation. The structure and property of the catalysts were investigated by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and temperature programmed reduction (TPR). The results indicated that there were at least two kinds of Mn species present in MnOx-CeO2 catalysts, i.e. Mn ions within CeO2 lattice and high dispersion MnOx on the surface of CeO2. The presence of Mn ions in the CeO2 lattice improved the oxygen vacancy due to the charge difference, and the CeO2 considerably decreased the reduction temperature of MnOx. The fine structure splittings of 1s2nd (n≤9) states for this ion are also evaluated. In calculating energy, the higher-order relativistic contribution is estimated under a hydrogenic approximation. The quantum defect of Rydberg series 1s2nd is determined according to the quantum defect theory. | 6 | The complete mitochondrial genomes sequences of Asio flammeus and Asio otus and comparative analysis显示文摘The complete mitochondrial genomes of Asio flammeus and Asio otus were se- quenced and found to span 18858 bp and 18493 bp, respectively. It is surprising to find the for- mer to be the largest among all avian mitochondrial genomes sequenced so far. The two ge- nomes have very similar gene order with that of Gallus gallus, neither contains the pseudo con- trol region, but both have a single extra base, namely Cytidine, at position 174 in ND3 gene. The control regions of Asio flammeus and Asio otus’ mitochondrial genomes span 3288 bp and 2926 bp respectively, which are the longest among vertebrates except for Myxine glutinosa and con- tribute to the large size of two genomes. The 3′end of the control region of Asio flammeus and Asio otus contains many tandemly repeated sequences, which are highly similar to a putative control element, i.e. Mt5, and may form stable stem-loop secondary structures. Such repeated sequences probably play an important role in regulating transcription and replication of mito- chondrial genome. | 7 | Modified Chaplygin gas as an interacting holographic dark energy model显示文摘The modified Chaplygin gas (MCG) as an interacting model of holographic dark energy in which dark energy and dark matter are coupled together is investigated in this paper. Concretely, by studying the evolutions of related cosmological quantities such as density parameter Ω, equation of state w, deceleration parameter q and transition redshift zT, we find the evolution of the universe is from deceleration to acceleration, their present values are consistent with the latest observations, and the equation of state of holographic dark energy can cross the phantom divide w = -1. Furthermore, we put emphasis upon the geometrical diagnostics for our model, i.e., the statefinder and Om diagnostics. By illustrating the evolutionary trajectories in r - s, r - q, w -w and Om planes, we find that the holographic constant c and the coupling constant b play very important roles in the holographic dark energy (HDE) model. | 11 | Reversible folding/unfolding of small α-helix in explicit solvent investigated by ABEEMσπ/MM显示文摘We have performed molecular dynamics simulations on the reversible folding/unfolding of small α-helix(short Ala based peptide Ala5) in explicit water solvent in terms of ABEEMσπ/MM.A dynamics analysis shows that the α-helical turn can be preserved up to a period of about 2 ns at 300 K,which supports the conclusions of Margulis et al.The time trajectory of the root mean square deviation between the heavy atoms of the backbone and the helical reference structure indicate that 'helix melting and formation occurs rapidly on a time scale of 0.1 ns at 300 K' is not a felicitous conclusion.We first quantificationally concluded that the helix nucleation can maintain 2 ns,1―1.5 ns and 0.8 ns for Ala5 at 300 K,400 K and 500 K,respectively.Furthermore,increasing temperature dose not alter the pathway of folding/unfolding,but change the rate.An analysis of structures in a 'transition-state ensemble' shows that helix-to-coil transitions occurs predominantly through breaking of hydrogen bonds at the helix ends(92%),particularly at the C-terminus(50%).Hydrogen bonds' breaking and formation occurs on a time scale of 0.1 ns. | LIU Cui & YANG ZhongZhi Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Faculty,Liaoning Normal University,Dalian 116029,China | 2009 | Science China Chemistry2009,52,11: | 3 |
| 12 | Assessment of Ecological Risk to Land Use in Liaoning Province Based on Climate Change显示文摘Based on the climatic data and other statistics of climatic data of 54 meteorological stations from 1956 to 2005 in Liangning Province,the annual and seasonal light,heat and water and the like major elements of climatic resources are diagnosed and analyzed by using the method of linear climate trend rate. The results show that warming trend is 0.25 ℃/10 a,the precipitation decrease gradually by 2.2 mm/a and the decreasing trend of solar radiation and hours of sunshine is not dramatic. The overall climate change trend is warming and drying,featuring 'significantly increased temperature,the decreased precipitation and sunshine'. These features are significant in autumn,thus leading to the trend of moving west and retreating east of the phenology boundaries. The results of scenario analysis on ecological security show that the ecological risk is spreading rapidly from the northwest to the east and to the south and form the southeastern and southern coastal line to the inland;different ecological land-use system have different ecological fragility. Specifically,the bare land and low coverage grassland have highest ecological vulnerability,while the forest and paddy filed have lowest ecological vulnerability. | 13 | ESTs analyses of Lampetra japonica liver and comparation transcriptome with the jawed vertebrates显示文摘A cDNA library was constructed from the liver of Lampetra japonica. 10077 ESTs were obtained by random selecting clones for sequencing. The results demonstrated that 8515 ESTs were assembled into 648 consensus sequences, represented 2210 unique transcripts, 47.06% of which were predicted as full length cDNAs. In addition, 1562 ESTs were singlets. Using the BLAST to align the assembled ESTs, we found that 93.9% (2053) transcripts shared similarity to sequences published in GenBank databases. The functional annotations to assembled ESTs showed that the genes, involved in immu-nology, blood coagulation and metabolism of jawed vertebrates, were highly expressed in the liver of L. japonica. Furthermore, 8 potential novel genes were identified. Further comparing liver transcriptome of L. japonica with Fundulus heteroclitus, Mus musculus, Bos Taurus, and Homo sapiens revealed that the genes of Chitinase and Polysaccharides metabolism were more highly expressed in L. japonica than the others, which implied that they may play an important role in immunity of L. japonica. In addi-tion, using the TargetScan, we marked microRNA target within 3′ UTR of L. japonica liver transcriptome. The data indicated that some microRNA targets were homology with the targets embeded in human cancer genes. The result seems to provide a useful clue to the treatment of human cancer. | 16 | Shape phase transitions in nuclei:Effective order parameters and trajectories显示文摘We analyze systematically the effective order parameters in nuclear shape phase transition both in experiments and in the interacting boson model. We find that energy ratios and B(E2) ratios can distinguish the first from the second-order phase transition in theory above a certain boson number N (about 50), but in experiments, only those quantities, such as E(L1+)/E(02+) and B(E2; (L+2)1 → L1)/B(E2; 21 → 01), etc., of which the monotonous transitional behavior in the second-order phase transition is broken in the first order phase transition independent of N, are qualified as the effective order parameters. By implementing the originally proposed effective order parameters and the new ones, we find that the isotones with neutron number Nn = 62 are a trajectory of the second order phase transition. | 18 | Up-conversion emissions of Er^(3+)-Yb^(3+) codoped Al_2O_3 nanoparticles by the arc discharge synthesis method显示文摘The Er3+-Yb3+ codoped Al2O3 nanoparticles with an average particle size of about 50 nm have been synthesized by an arc discharge synthesis method. The green and red up-conversion emissions centered at about 526, 547 and 677 nm, corresponding respectively to the 2H11/2→4I15/2, 4S3/2→4I15/2 and 4 F9/2→4I15/2 transitions of Er3+, were detected by a 978-nm semiconductor laser diode excitation. The Annealing has evident effect on the up-conversion emissions of the samples: The red up-conversion emission is noticeable before annealing; however, the green up-conversion emission becomes predominant after annealing. The mixture of (Er,Yb)3Al5O12 and α-(Al,Er,Yb)2O3 phases is more favorable for green up-conversion emissions due to an enhancement of the ESA (I) of 4I11/2+a photon→4F7/2 and ET (III) of 2F5/2(Yb3+)+4I11/2(Er3+)→2F7/2(Yb3+)+4F7/2(Er3+) processes. The two-photon absorption up-conversion process is involved in the green and red up-conversion emissions.
